John Pearse is a small string company, known quite well in bluegrass circles. Great strings!

I recently went through all my acoustic electric guitars hoping to weed out the week link in my collection before I brought a new axe into the roost. I tried various string combinations on various guitars & found that some guitars work better with specific string combinations than others. All strings are not right for all guitars. That being said, I had a high end guitar that was not comfortable to play and didn't sound the way I thought it should. I tried Elixers, DR, Diadarrio and others. I had heretofore gone with 13/56 DR's on this axe for slide, but it wasn't so good for anything else. Within moments of finishing a string job with JOHN PEARSE strings 12/53's it was obvious I had found a match unlike anything I have ever found. They are quite possibly the finest sounding strings I have ever used. Great for slide, great for picking, Just Great. If you have a guitar that just doesn't sound and play as you think it should, do try the JOHN PEARSE strings. Also, do yourself a favor and make sure you have full windings when you install them, at least 3 or 4 rotations, it helps the string to relax and not be so tense.
I've played these strings on every guitar I've ever owned. I'm a banger: No lead, no picking. These strings open up like a piano, with delicious (but not piercing) highs, and deep (not booming,) sonorous lows with a mid-range that holds everything up nicely. They last a pretty good long time, and hold up pretty well to repeated, various tunings (I often go to a drop 'D'). But when you throw on a new set, you fall in love all over again. Perhaps even more so than your first set...
I gutted out playing with them for a few days because they sounded so good, but had to quit because of undeniable Fingertip Pinprick Zing. (And that took me out of any playing for a good week or so.) Live and Learn.
