Overview

The Jet City 100 watt attenuator has some useful features, making it an excellent tool for both live and recording.

Amp inputs at 4-, 8-, and 16-ohms makes Jettenuator more versatile than other attenuators. The continuous attenuation control lets you set the volume right where you want it.

Also included is a line-level output, with its own level control. Use this to connect Jettenuator to an external power amplifier, or effects processors in professional applications.

Rounding out the feature set is the MicSim output. This balanced, XLR output simulates a microphone in front of a speaker, so you can attenuate your amp and send a great-sounding feed to the house, or your recording mixer. It’s like a direct box for your cranked-up tube amp.

Inputs: 4, 8, 16 ohms

Comments about Jet City Amplification Jettenuator Amp Power Attenuator:

I've owned a Jettenuator for about 4-5 years. I use it to attenuate a cranked jca20h head, sending the line out to a stereo rack multi-effects unit and then to a stereo powered mixer that serves as the power amp in a 'budget-friendly' wet-dry-wet setup that works at any volume. The dry signal is the speaker out from the Jettenuator, which goes into a 1x12" cab. I've also used the balanced output to send to the same mixer as a dry signal for recording. All functions work great and you can control the level of the line output, which is nice. The balanced output is a bit 'dark' when recorded but the line out is 'brighter' and a blend of the two is good, but better yet: mic the speaker cab too for a triple-tracked signal that can be blended at the console. This is a well-built unit that should last a lifetime.

Comments about Jet City Amplification Jettenuator Amp Power Attenuator:

For the price these small load boxes have pretty big sound. Purchased mainly to use in a small home studio setting to get the best sound out of my tube amps without having the cops called on me for a noise complaint. The casing seems sturdy enough to last a long time. Knobs have a nice feel to them as well. The simulated mic output worked great through a mixer and a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 when recorded into reaper. I didn't notice any sound difference when set to volume level 2-3 and ran through the amp's speaker. Below the 2 mark which it recommends the box to be set at I noticed a drop in sound quality but 2 is plenty low enough for my studio when ran through the speaker.
