Overview

Jet City Amplification's flagship 100HDM Amp Head is two channels of Soldano tone and 100 watts of pure tube power. The Crunch channel has plenty of headroom to deliver clear, bright clean tones and can be driven hard enough to get downright raunchy. The Overdrive channel is the circuit that made Soldano famous. The HDM version also includes the famous Soldano Depth Control, and a metal front baffle, standard. The 100W/50W brings the pain from four 6L6 output tubes in 100W mode, or in 50W mode two tubes are turned off causing the power section to work harder to reach the desired output level, resulting in some pretty hot power amp distortion. Rounding out the feature set is the wire-mounted blue LED, just because it looks cool. This LED is socket-mounted so it can be replaced with other colors, a daisy-chain of several LEDs, or removed entirely.

Comments about Jet City Amplification 100HDM 100W/50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

It's been a few years since I last toured and I am currently just working on original material. This head is everything I expected. I love the power option of either 100 or 50 watt. The depth control is great as I am currently using jet city 24s+ cabs which are 2x12's so it adds a little more low end. I can get every thing from a good crunchy classic rock tone to an outright metal maddness tones. Clean tones are very usable. I can even get some tones that are close to a marshall jcm800. Btw, it does do the soldano tone exceptionally well! Just a great amp and I got it for a steal! I am just loving Jet City amps and would recomend them to anyone! By far the best for the buck out there anywhere!

Comments about Jet City Amplification 100HDM 100W/50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Great amp for the price. I picked one up for a screaming deal online and hooked it up to an EVH cab. The more I played it, the more I liked it. It has just enough gain on the overdrive channel to get a heavy sound, but it's really made for 80's rock. I like that you can get pretty extreme with the knobs and it still sounds good, so it gives you a lot of variation without changing the sound too much and ruining the sound. It has a great transparency and you can really hear the overtones from the strings even with a lot of gain. It has a good amount of bass, but it can get overpowering quickly. It's also a very bright amp, so pair it with darker speakers like GT-75's or greenbacks... no V30's. You can get it to clean up and it sounds nice but I do wish it would be a little cleaner with the gain above 2 on the crunch channel. It sounds decent at a low volume, but sounds so nice and thumpy cranked, so don't expect to get those tones in your apartment without a call from your neighbors.

Comments about Jet City Amplification 100HDM 100W/50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

A wonderful amp. The clean channel has a lot of clarity. The distorted channel has clarity and a punch. You can overdrive the tubes nicely with an eq pedal or an mxr micro amp. I love the feature of switching to 50w or 100w. The price of the amp is reasonable. I really can't say at this point in time any real negitve comments. The amp it self is fantastic especailly for individuls becoming familiar with tube amps.

Comments about Jet City Amplification 100HDM 100W/50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I played an SLO when in West Germany, and again when I arrived in Alberta... I never thought I would be able to own that killer tone for myself, until the HDM came into my life.
Bear in mind, I immediately replaced the tubes with industry standard almost immediately.
I then was able to once again borrow the SLO and bench test them A/B style.
The only point I was able to distinguish between them was when I went beyond 2 on the master... and for these amps, that is uncomfortably loud! Only at stadium volumes did the SLO stand out.

Currently getting authorized SLO mods done to it, so I fully expect it to close the sonic gap even further, and for a small percentage of the price of an SLO.
