  • nice speaker

As reviewed by jeremy on 7/21/2011

put a very used p10r in a 7yr old fender frontman 25r series 1 and it sounds very, very good . no "major" differences were apparent at first but after a while i began to appreciate the subtle, high quality cleans and chimes of this speaker also, it brings the od channel a lil closer to being legit before the swap , due to a blown oem , this 25r was on the verge of being sold for mere pocket change . after the swap it has now become my fave lil amp . sounds better than a blues jr and a lot lighter , too .

  • Big sound from little 10"!!!

As reviewed by JRH on 4/21/2011

Ok, so I was going to get some vintage type speaker for my Fender amp and then I pulled the old ones out and just decided to go with the same ones. I forgot how awesome these are right out of the box! Plus they move a lot of air. The Alnico magnets truly set these apart from regular 10 inch speakers. Good range all the way through and a gut punching bottom end. Definitely worth a review of 5 stars. LOVE EM!

  • Very Musical Speakers

As reviewed by John Hudak on 4/24/2014

I actually bought two of these and turned my 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue from a 1 x 12" to a 2 x 10" combo. They came in both configurations back in the day and I prefer open back combos with two speakers. . .when paired with good tubes and a quality instrument the sound is much more three-dimensional. I researched these speakers and bought with confidence. I was not disappointed. They fired right up and sounded good out of the box. I play Gretsch guitars, proline and custom shop models all loaded with TV Jones. The Jensens are very robust, and in particular these 10" speakers are quick on the attack and very snappy. The low end is very musical and tight, and the overall tone is about as sweet as you could want. If they sound this good out of the box, I can't wait until they break in a little. I mentioned TV Jones, but I only use their Classics. I've got a Black Penguin and I left the stock Dynasoncis in it. They sound fantastic through the Jensens. Some folks complain that the newer Fender reissues and the Jensens are too "bright" or "spikey", but you can't just leave all of your guitar knobs on 10. If you notice the guys back in the day. . .as far back as Eddie Cochran (check YouTube and you'll see what I mean). . .they all USED the tone and volume controls on their guitars to augment what the amp was doing. A bright amp is an asset, if you know how to use it. Adjust your volume and tone on the guitar, and that brightness will enable your signal to remain clear and musical. Ever wonder how Jimmy Page was able to get such a crystal clear tone from those Marshalls without clipping the bright cap? There you go. . .and don't forget that you don't want to sound like mud in a group setting. If you are competing with the bass player, you won't come across as articulate in the mix. Hats off to Jensen for turning out such a good product. Their alnicos are fantastic, so much so that my next purchase will be a pair of P12N's for my 65 Twin Reverb Reissue. Been playing for 33 years and these are some of the best speakers I've tried. I've owned boutique and vintage amps with original speakers. Jensen is a serious contender, give them a shot!
