when u think of 'clean , shimmery' tone , think fender and jensen . for this amount of $$ , it doesn't get any better . sure , you can buy and/or configure a 'better' amp/speaker combo , but on a budget , this is top shelf . it's about tone , not the name on the box . this speaker is more than adequate for almost every application . you can buy higher end stuff , but as for bang for your buck , this is it .
I use these in a handwired 59 Bassman clone and they are awesome. Super smooth break up and notes are all nice and clear. They sound best when the amp is working them hard. Live I am around 7 or 8 with the channels blended and these speakers sing. I thought about putting two P10Qs to mix it up but no need and they are cheap!!
Ordered 2 of these to replace the original 18 watt Jensen Vibranto speakers in my '62 Tremolux Amp. I couldn't be happier with the results. Clean, they just shimmer and sparkle, with plenty of mid and low response. Distorted, they shine equally well. I'm a nut about high-end response. I like loads of screaming, shimmering treble bite, and these Jensens deliver it by the truckload. You can always tone down the highs if you want, but if you have speakers with limited treble response, you can't turn the treble up enough, or the bass low enough to compensate. Overall, these speakers deliver beautifully well-rounded tone, no matter what style you are playing. Definitely a great buy!
