Comments about Jackson SLATHX 3-8 Quilted Maple Top 8-String Electric Guitar:
I purchased this guitar roughly four months ago. I can say after recording and performing live with this guitar, it's an excellent product. The slim neck profile coupled with the through body design is phenomenal. The tone is tight, and very clean, especially when utilizing that Sentient neck pickup with little to no gain. The Nazgul bridge pickup has lots of clarity and gain. Although compared to my seven string with Bare Knuckle Juggernauts, I can say this guitar being of extended low end range could stand for a little more articulation. The gauge of the strings shipped from the factory are not suited for playing in any lower tuning than standard F, and should be a first consideration for anyone using this guitar to tune lower. The hard tail bridge is incredible, intonation and tuning with this guitar is absolutely exceptional. Although I am not as impressed with the tuners, as they use their standard Jackson tuners seen on most Dinkies and Soloists, so anything other than Ernie Ball strings with tapers on the bottom strings would require some drilling of the tuners. I still after a few months cannot get over the finish on this guitar. It's not only has a beautiful high gloss sheen but is also surprisingly durable. Overall I'd say this is a perfect purchase for someone looking to get a quality extended range instrument without completely breaking the bank.
