Overview

The David Ellefson CB-X 4-string X-Series bass is a formidable addition to the Jackson bass family, bearing the personal stamp and distinctive features of the fleet-fingered Megadeth bassist. From its earth-shaking dual humbucking pickups to its lightspeed compound-radius fingerboard and sophisticated onboard controls, the CB-X is pure Jackson and pure Ellefson in sound, feel, look and value.

Some features include an alder Concert Bass body with a gloss finish in Black or Quicksilver for killer looks. Its bolt-on, quartersawn maple neck with special profile shape, ivoroid binding and oiled finish give it a solid yet smooth, playable feel. The rosewood fingerboard with 21 jumbo frets and shark fin inlays, and ivoroid-bound black headstock with '90s-style Jackson logo give the CB-XV an unmistakable look.

The EMG humbucking neck (HZ35N) and bridge (HZ35B) pickups and EMG BEQ3 active preamp are the perfect set of electronics to help you dial in the sound you want. Domed volume, three-band EQ and blend control knobs, high-mass four-string bridge, black hardware, and David Ellefson silver "Fallout" logo on the truss rod cover round out the awesome looks and utility of this shredder's dream. Comments about Jackson Dave Ellefson Signature CBX X Series Electric Bass Guitar:

Ive worked as a bass/guitar piano player for around 20 years. Metal, rock, pop, country, funk and even some reggae (in my past). I wanted this bass to compliment the other basses that I use onstage and this has that unique tone I was looking for. First off the neck was set correctly, no truss adjustments needed. The intonation and action needed adjustment but that's no big deal. I do all my setup myself on everything I own. I noticed that the screw anchoring the tuner to the backside of the headstock was broken off...not good at all. If you drill out that tiny fragment, it will prevent a new screw from biting. The only option is to replace the entire neck....really not good. I ended up getting the tuner square and will appeal to Jackson(Fender) for satisfaction (wish me luck, I will need it). Then I plugged it in. Sounded terrible. Nothing I would play on stage. I then took a closer look at the pickups. they were set so badly, I'm surprised anything came through the amp at all. I had to re set the pickup height. I really like the playability and tone (now that I have fixed the issues) and will keep this bass but Jackson needs to teach the "craftsman" in Indonesia how to properly build a guitar. I have 2 Yamahas that put together don't cost as much as this Jackson and their build quality and quality of components far surpasses what I got with this thing.

Comments about Jackson Dave Ellefson Signature CBX X Series Electric Bass Guitar:

This bass is great. I traded in my Jackson JS3 concert bass and a little extra cash for this bass. I wanted more tone and high end clip than the JS3 was putting out but I love the feel and handling of the JS3. This bass totally delivered. It is light weight, has a slim neck, really low action on the strings, and best of all EMG pick ups and active controls. Making it a very playable and awesome sounding speed machine.

Comments about Jackson Dave Ellefson Signature CBX X Series Electric Bass Guitar:

I *would* use it for recoring and live shows.

Jacksons have a neck radius built for speed, and killer tone.

If you guys would add the option to order the BLACK FINISH model, I would buy it. Even the guys in-store couldn't figure that out.
