Overview

The Jackson DK2 Dinky Electric Guitar is the 2008 model and sports a Seymour Duncan JB TB4 humbucker (bridge)and a
Seymour Duncan Jazz SH2N humbucker (neck) mounted on a sleek alder body for plenty of warm, chunky tone. The shred-eriffic rock maple neck sports a bound compound-radius maple fretboard. A scalloped heel means uninhibited access to the upper frets, while a Floyd Rose double-locking trem lets you dive as deep as you want.

Jackson's compound-radius fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out. With a more relaxed hand, you'll play better!

Thats right, I have 17 guitars 9 are Jacksons, I went into Guitar Center to by another Marshall amp & ask to play this guitar. It plays faster then my Jackson Soloist, is more accessible for fast playing. The Maple fingerboard had me flying through my appegios, I am going to trade in my soloist because it does not allow me to play as fast as this Metal Monster. By the way Seymour Duncans have never let me down, this Jackson is no different, the Duncan pickups have power & that warm heavy sound without clogging up like some other famous brands due. I had all kinds of problems with this guitar. The neck was sitting in the neck pocket slanted(the high e side was high)where you could visibly see the slant. The trem bar would not tighten down and would come loose constantly. The action was sky high from the factory and when I tried tom lower the trem studs, the metal was so cheap the screws wanted to strip. I also had a popping noise when I pulled up or down on the trem coming from the nut. I can't believe Jackson is doing any type of quality control, these problems should have been caught at the factory, especially the neck sitting crooked in the neck pocket. Make sure you check the neck if you get one as I have read about other people having the same problem with their Jackson.

I have owned a few top dollar guitars in my lifetime including high-end Jacksons. This guitar blows them all away!! The neck is the thing, it is soooooo nice. It feels almost as if it is scalloped. It is fast!! The guitar is beautiful as well with killer tone. Sell of your other guitars and get this one, it rules!

I love this guitar!!!!

By Fretmaster

from Chicago, IL.

Comments about Jackson DK2M Dinky Electric Guitar (2008 Model):

Jackson has struck gold with this guitar! I'm a bass player who was looking to convert, and played tons of guitars, and read tons of reviews, and was totally unsure of what i really wanted. I play metal about 98% of the time, and needed a guitar that could perform. I went to guitar center to look, and one of the salesman put this one in my lap, and it was love at first play. The action is great for soloing, and the tremolo performs like a jem! But the tremolo is a warning point for beginning players, make sure you know what you're getting into. I love this guitar, it is the ultimate shredding guitar, and i plan on playing it until I die!!!!!!!!

Test of Time

Comments about Jackson DK2M Dinky Electric Guitar (2008 Model):

I have owned my Jackson Dinky Rev since 1992 and it still sounds and plays just as well as it did when I tried it for the first time in the store I bought it in. I have never had to ajust the neck. and only have preformed intonation tuning once. It stays in great tune even when I dive bomb the tremolo repeatedly. I couldn't reccommend a better guitar.

Amazing Guitar

By Pha-Q

from Lewisville, TX

Comments about Jackson DK2M Dinky Electric Guitar (2008 Model):

This guitar is amazing. My favorite thing about this guitar is that the neck allows your hand to just glide. Playing on it feels good. Solos are easily done on this guitar. It also has some Seymour Duncan humbuckers that sound pretty nice. The neck p-up is good for some nice clean sounds, and the bridge p-up is good for metal. The price is well worth it if your looking for a good guitar but don't want to go overboard.

Comments about Jackson DK2M Dinky Electric Guitar (2008 Model):

when i first saw this guitar i fell in love with the way it looks. it has a nice neck for shreding and fast solos. pickups are great but they could use a bit more high end tone . Id have to say my fav thing about this ax is the whammy bar, you can crank on it for days and it still stays in tune. this is my second fav guitar next to my dime o flame and i plan on getting it.

DK2...Very Nice

By Tenacious T

from Alabama

Comments about Jackson DK2M Dinky Electric Guitar (2008 Model):

I purchased this guitar over the weekend @ Guitar Center in Birmingham Alabama...Love it! The neck is smooth as silk, flawless. The finish on this thing is superb...I got the black version. The Licensed Floyd Rose is rock solid...tuned standard 440 out the door. Tunes nicely & stays there. Very nice. What I really like most about this guitar is the neck...binding & inlays. The natural wood finish & the black inlays really look great. The Seymour Duncans are great..crunchy, warm...whatever you need. I played several different Dinky's with the Duncans & EMG's...I personally liked the tone of the Duncans...very clean & mean. Great guitar...Love it!

Amazing looks and playability

By Azagothoth

from Lexington, NC

Comments about Jackson DK2M Dinky Electric Guitar (2008 Model):

I have been a fan of Jackson guitars mostly flying V's. I switched over to ESP and few years back due to the Dave Mustaine DV8. I needed a guitar to sit down a practice with (sitting with a V is to difficult)and I wasnt expecting such great quality out of this guitar. First off, the sound is amazing alot of crunch definatley a metal guitar. The fretboard is very smooth and plays great. The Floyd Rose needs to be set up at first, but after it is it stays in tune very well. Very good quality and is built well compared to models that are over 500 dollars more.

Great Guitar

By Dimefan21

from Undisclosed

Comments about Jackson DK2M Dinky Electric Guitar (2008 Model):

I got this guitar late december and I am completely amazed with it. The pickups are good and have good palm muting for metal sounds. The Floyd rose is awesome and make sgreal dimebag squealing noises. It sounds good with basicaly any amp but with certain overdrive/distotion pedal the sound can get a bit overwhelming to certain people and odd over tones occationally pop in to if you turn the gain up to 10 and then some with the pedal. I would mainly recomend this guitar to metal artists but i have used the clean signal and it is great.

Great Guitar

Comments about Jackson DK2M Dinky Electric Guitar (2008 Model):

I bought this in black a few months back, and I still love it! It plays great, it's light, good fret access. My only problem with the guitar was the pickups. The stock Seymour Duncans don't sound very good, but i solved that by putting a pair of EMGs in, and now every aspect of the guitar is amazing.

Comments about Jackson DK2M Dinky Electric Guitar (2008 Model):

I have a few guitars. a strat, Charvel, and a dean. My friends own all different types of guitars. This guitar blows them all away . Jacksons rule at least this one does . Fret board is wide and slides great. It can give you a Metal sound or a little blues sound IT does it all. If you need one guitar this is it.

Comments about Jackson DK2M Dinky Electric Guitar (2008 Model):

This guitar is AWESOME. Shape, size, everything on this guitar is perfect for the run-of-the-mill metalhead. I would recommend getting a VOX, or Line 6 amp if you are seriously considering purchasing this guitar. My experience with this guitar is A-MA-ZING. My first guitar ever is this right here, and I still play it till this day....

Amazing guitar

By Jeff

from Seminole, Florida

Comments about Jackson DK2M Dinky Electric Guitar (2008 Model):

I got this guitar about a month ago, and wow! I've been an Ibanez player for a few years now, but bought my first Jackson, an rr3, about 6 months ago. This guitar blew me away. It was my first time playing on a maple fretboard, and now my rosewood Ibanez and Rhoads feels dry and rough to me. Anyone interested in this guitar, I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. The Floyd isn't bad either, although I have an OFR on the way to swap out, just to be safe when I play shows. I had to set it up myself unfortunately, as I use a different string gauge, but that was simple. The guitar plays extremely well, and the pickups scream. However, I did raise the SH-2 in the neck a bit, to get more bite from it. The JB is an amazing pickup. I've used SH-8s, EMGs, and an SH-6 especially for awhile, and the JB blows them all away. The guitar was built extremely well, which has always made me feel comfortable dealing with Jackson, even on import models. I've gigged with it, and it handled beautifully. Amazing guitar, especially for the price. Buy it now!

amazing guitar

By James

from South Carolina

Comments about Jackson DK2M Dinky Electric Guitar (2008 Model):

I got this guitar several months ago and it by far is the best guitar I have ever had. I love playing it. The seymour duncans are the best and the maple fretboard is just pure eye candy. It is beautiful. The only thing I have against it is the floyd rose. I like changing the tuning of my guitar dramatically and it becomes a hassle when you have to undo the tune guards or whatever you call them to change the tuning from standard tuning to CGCFAD. Overall great guitar I just wish it had more tuning freedom. 5 stars.
