This thing blew everyone who saw it away along with me. Easily one of the best instruments i have ever put my hands on. The floyd rose did pose a few problems, like a balance problem with the tuning. but other than that it was a pleasure to operate and play. The price is something that any wise musician would jump on immediatley, The pickups were most impressive by far mainly because of the versatility and the clear tone quality. I definatley reccomend this insrtument to any intermediate musician who is looking to improve his or her experience with higher quality guitars.
I just purchased this guitar yesterday afternoon. Although it wasn't my 1st choice for an electric, it was my FINAL choice. I saw this axe hanging high up on the wall @ my G.C. The finish was what caught my eye at first (Burnt Cherry Sunburst). The tech brought it down for me to try, I loved it right away. This guitar is "HOT"!! I played it through a little practice amp with only the onboard effects. The pick ups had such a sweet sound. Crunching lows, nice mids & piercing highs. After checking the finish more closely, there were a few minor issues. In one spot, there looked like there was a polishing buff that was a little too vigorous. Luckily, it wasn't in a "blindingly" obvious area. You REALLY had to look to find it. Last, there were some very minor chipping issues with the white binding along the edges of the neck. It doesen't affect my playing, but they're still "slightly" obvious. The guitar isn't absolutely perfect, but the issues that I mentioned are "slight". Right out of the box, it was set up pretty well. It only took minor adjustments to make it more to my liking. The action was able to come down some and made playing easier. The neck is fast & flat. The guitar looks beautiful. The quilted top is sharp. I would advise anyone who's interested in this axe to "BUY IT". You WON'T be sorry!! What I forgot to mention was that I also got a GREAT DEAL on this guitar. It was an awesome enough of a deal to offset the minor issues that I mentioned earlier!! Go get yourself one!!!
I got my taxes and wanted to buy a new guitar. I always liked jacksons but hate the triple pickups on most of them. All the ones with duel pickups were always highly priced. So I saw this one, noticed it had the new EMG's, a floyd rose, locking neck, and was reasonably priced, not only that but it was a neck thru guitar. I had to buy it and give it a whirl.
Guitar- Kind of heavy body but nice craftsmanship, very well put together.
Fretboard- Love the rosewood, it has a superfast fretboard the dividers are just the right hight, perfect for lead players and players who do solo's and sweeps.
Tremelo- It's a floyd rose, it works like a charm of course, very cool black hardware on this one too.
SOUND- most important category. This guitar has a very wide range of tones. I didn't spend a lot of time with it since I just got it, but it has a huge spectrum of sound capability. The new EMG H4 pickups sound great. I will never play an 81 or 85 again. These pickup a lot of the notes that usually get washed out by too much distortion when playing fast. The pinch harmonics sound beautiful and it does the BEST dive bombs I have ever heard.
But this guitar well worth your money. I would take this over any Gibson or PRS any day. This guitar kicks ass! Buy it before they raise the price!
Don't pay attention to the youtube videos with the jackson guy playing this. He sucks and can't play well anyway. But this guitar it love you long time!
