  • Top quality, disappointed with the veneer visibility

As reviewed by art ralston on 7/22/2013

I just got my transparent black quilted maple SL2 Pro 2 weeks ago. I love it! The real Floyd Rose does not disappoint at all. The pickups are hot and crisp. The neck feels great, and it was set up beautifully from the factory. I don't want to bash it at all, but I do have 2 honest complaints. The first is that the trem bar was so tight-fitting into the hole that I thought there must be some sort of tension adjustment on the underside (there is not, the chrome must just have been put on too heavily. It took a good 30 seconds of pushing and turning back and forth to get it to go in. Once in place, it works perfectly. Getting it back out was just as fun, but I have worn it down enough now that it's only a little too tight. The second issue is just cosmetic, having nothing to do with function. All of the online photos of this guitar are stunning, with beautiful figure in the quilted maple. My guitar (ordered it online) has a quilted top in there somewhere, hiding under the finish. From 3 feet away, it just looks like a gloss black finish. If you get the light to catch it just right, you can see the quilting. For the extra $100, I am NOT impressed. I might have bought it in gloss black, had that been an option, so it's not horrible, but it would not have cost an extra $100. I still love it, aside from those 2 items, I would have given it an easy 5 stars. It's right up there with the American quality, at half the cost.

I got this guitar about a month ago (quicksilver) I love everything about it. Plays like a dream, action set very low, no fret buzz at all, and the origianal Floyd Rose , she dosnt go out of tune :)

  • Great Guitar from Jackson!

As reviewed by Rick Kala on 5/23/2013

The reason I purchased this guitar was because of my past experience with Jackson products. They are a reliable producer of quality guitars. In addition, this guitars price point is more than fair IMO. Upon getting the guitar I noticed the quality craftsmanship and the feel of the neck was great. Furthermore, the Seymour Duncans compliment the Alder body perfectly. This guitar has now become my main guitar and I plan to keep it for years! Great job by Jackson. Pro's - Looks, Playability, and Price Con's - Packaging by Guitar Center was terrible, they need to better represent Jackson.
