A distinctive body shape with a quilt maple top, EMG pickups and tune-o-matic bridge.

The fearsome RRTMG Pro Series Rhoads from Jackson features an alder body, 3-piece through-body maple neck with graphite reinforcement and hand-rubbed oil finish, compound-radius (12"-16") ebony fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets and alumiloid shark fin inlays, white neck and headstock binding, EMG 81 (bridge) and 85 (neck) humbucking pickups with 3-way toggle switching, anodized black aluminum control plate, string-through-body TonePros fully adjustable bridge, black hardware and Dunlop strap locks.

Crafted with more than three decades of Jackson experience and expertise, Pro Series guitars feature volcanic pickups from pro makers EMG, perfectly sculpted maple necks with hand-rubbed oil finishes, and 24-fret compound-radius fingerboards in rosewood, maple and ebony that curve more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flatten out approaching the body for wicked-fast runs and crazy-high bends without fretting out. Case sold separately.

  • Not the Jackson brand we all loved in the 80's!

As reviewed by Brett on 4/22/2015

First off the one I received was NOT in a factory sealed box. I'm not sure if they sent me a customer return or what. Here's the first thing I noticed when I opened the box. It's packed inside a foam bag that's very thin. Do you think that's going to protect all the sharp points of the guitar? Absolutely not! The tip of the headstock and longest point of the body had broken through the material and was exposed. I continued to pull it out and one of the knobs were missing. Once I was finally able to get it out and look it over I noticed various scratches and a ding on the headstock. I went to tune it up and everything went well until I got to the high "e" string. The setup and intonation was so poor that it would not even tune properly and just kept making that annoying "ping" noise. Do yourself a favor and avoid this model. You can find yourself a nice used USA RR1T model for just a little more than what you pay for this thing. This is the 3rd (that's right 3rd) order in a row I've received from GC that came damaged so I'm done ordering online from them.

  • well just so so...

As reviewed by Haozheng on 11/13/2014

I gave this 4 star because I still love Jackson... However, this guitar is not as well as I thought. Indonesian made a terrible Jackson 'Pro' series. The fretboard has an obvious collision at the end. The jumbo frets is not polished well, when I moving my hands it almost cut me at fretboard side.At the bridge, the finish is worn obviously when drilling holes. The switch is a bit hard to turn. I miss Japanese made Jackson very much...This workmanship is much worse than my RR3 I bought in 2010 even RR3 is much cheaper. By the way, Jackson doesn't ship guitar with a SKB case nowadays.when I bought RR3, The SKB hardshell case is an accessory with the guitar. You need to buy one yourself...... Although there are these problems, this guitar is still a killing machine due to 8185 pickups as you all know. Sounds good but need a some adjustments there is a lot of Buzz at 6 and 5 strings. So, not a bad guitar but not a good one. I love RR, but maybe need to turn to custom shop...
