Product Information

A hard rocker that's easy on the pocket.

The 2008 Jackson JS30 Electric Guitar has a Dinky-style alder body, maple neck with reversed headstock, and rosewood fretboard nicely equipped with jumbo frets. A JT500 double-locking trem, 2 Jackson CVR pickups, and chrome hardware round out the Jackson JS30 guitar. Jackson includes volume, tone, and a 3-way switch to giver the JS30 electric guitar simple sound management. Jackson's compound-radius fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out. With a more relaxed hand, you'll play better!

For the price, nothing beats it!

I have a few Jackson?s and I can tell you this is a great guitar. I own a PS7 Jackson that I constantly play, but I got eager to get something new and I bought this one as a training guitar for my girlfriend. For the price, this is a good guitar. You get a great guitar with a fast neck for solos and fast paced rhythms, but it?s also a great instrument for the beginner-to-intermediate player. It has good weight and it doesn't feel top or bottom heavy; it is balanced all the way through. The tuners are on the bottom of the headstock, but if you are used to reverse Jackson?s, you won't be out of place here. If you are a beginner, stick with the normal headstock and the tuners facing the ceiling, it will make your learning experience easier. As far as looks are concerned, the black finish is always the coolest and sleekest of the bunch. Black goes with anything, after all. If you can change the hardware to black, it will look 10 times better--a real killer. I actually have the JS30DKT, which is a string-through, but they are both the same, minus the tremolo. Since this one has a whammy, you can do more technique-driven solos or leads. I suggest changing the stock humbuckers for better EMG '81s or Seymour Duncan Screamin? Demons, but that's if you already know your sound--stick with the stocks if you are just beginning. If you are just beginning and are looking for a starter guitar, I suggest you look to another Jackson or the JS30DKT Jackson without the tremolo. Floyd Rose styled guitars can be a pain to tune if you don?t know the basics. Learn the basics and then learn the extras. If you already know the basics and can handle the upkeep of a Floyd Rose, this is a great guitar for you. The neck is amazing, the weight is just right, and the overall craftsmanship is well constructed and solid. Overall, if you are looking for the next step after your training guitar, this is it. Don?t pass this up!

My review of my Jackson

I love this guitar. It is so easy to play, and the Floyd-Rose is awesome. I wish that the neck could be a little more rounded, but it is still a very smooth guitar. The quality of the pickups is not great, but I use this guitar for a lot os distortion so it sounds great anyway. Not a guitar that I would use for a lot of melodies and harmonies, but a great instrument for metal and chord progressions.

sweet for beginners and beyond

The JS30DK Dinky was the first guitar I ever bought myself. I picked this one out on features alone and was blown away by the sound. The neck is smooth and fast with great stock action that's easy to adjust. The Floyd Rose locking tremolo is amazing, addictive, and great for everything from bend vibrato to dive-bombing. The bridge pickup is great for classic rock sound and the neck pickup adds more fullness for blues. The two humbuckers handle overdrive and distortion with minimal feedback and hiss. Great sound, great sustain, great guitar for everything from shredding metal to ballads.

Great Starting Guitar

I recently bought this guitar for my second guitar. My Squire Bullet wasn't really getting the job done. I was trying out different guitars in my price range, and when I tried this I had to have it. I have the black flametop version of this. The first eye-catching thing that I noticed was the whammy bar. I have never used one, so that is what made me try it out. I wasn't expecting to actually like the guitar, seeing that is was pretty cheap. I picked it up, and first noticed the weight. It's defenetly better feeling than my Squire. The frets are perfect size for my hands. They are a bit bigger than the ones on the Gibson Les Paul guitars. I plugged it into a Spider 2 with lots of distortion. Once I struck the first power cord, and began playing a chunky rythym, I knew that this was the guitar for me. I loved the whammy bar. I loved going into a fast lead and then hitting a pinch-harmonich and pulling it. After a long time of playing, I decided it was time to buy. After getting it home, I noticed several things that I hadn't paid attention to. The action is really terrible. The frets are fairly uneven, but not very noticable. The pickups are decent. They were better than I expected for the price of this marvalous instrument. I now have perfectly even frets, a lowered action, and best of all, a Dimebucker pickup. Now I can play faster and better, and the price adds up to that of a decent epiphone. I definetly prefere this to one of those, though. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. Get a set of heavy bottom strings. So now your ready to turn up the distortion and ROCK!
