I love the bass. It sounds and feels great. It was what I was looking for as far as different feel and sound. The active Pick Ups are better and more clear than I thought they would be. The 5th star is missing because the quality could be a little better. I had the front strap screw almost come out after taking it to one rehearsal. Other than that I like it.
I just bought this bass a few days ago and I love it. I was originally looking at the JS2 but they didn't have it in the color i wanted (Transparent Black) but they did with the JS3 so with only a few bucks more i found that I had complete control over tone to fine tune what i wanted along with my amp. The only problem i found is that action is a little high for my taste but is easily adjustable. There is practically no fret buzz which makes this guitar sound like it should. If you buy this guitar I promise you that you will fall in love it.
I recently purchased this bass as a replacement for an ESP Ltd EX-104 that I installed aftermarket EMG 35DC's in after I broke the headstock off and this bass sounds infinitely better and it's more versatile. You could use this bass for anything from Blues, Jazz, and Funk to Thrash Metal and Rock 'n' Roll. With just turning the knobs for the 3-band EQ and the pick-ups on the bass you can go from boomy and smooth to bitey and aggressive. It's way more than what I expected especially for the price and after comparing it to the EX. The only problem that I had was that the E-string tuning machine would not hold the string in tune, but after playing it for a couple hours that problem ceased to exist. Whatever genre you play, this bass will make the sound that you want. I guess it's just a matter of whether you like the body style. I would suggest this bass to anyone who asks. Buy one today, especially if you play heavy metal or thrash.
