Serious sonic capabilities and a scalloped neck joint.

The Jackson DK2S Dinky Electric Guitar is both a looker and a screamer with Seymour Duncan pickups and flashy finishes. The DK2S features Duncan's Sustainiac Driver/pickup in the neck position, STK-1 Single-Coil mid, and their JB TB4 in the bridge position. The alder body is fitted with a shred-eriffic rock maple neck and a bound compound-radius rosewood fretboard. Transparent finish models have a stunning flamed maple top. A scalloped heel means uninhibited access to the upper frets, while a Floyd Rose double-locking trem lets you dive as deep as you want. A deluxe Jackson molded case by SKB comes with the package to protect your investment and keep it looking good.

Sustainiac vibrates the strings to produce intense, predictable, controllable feedback-sustained notes at any volume.

Jackson's compound-radius fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out. With a more relaxed hand, you'll play better!

  • Meh.

As reviewed by Alex on 8/9/2011

I had seen these demoed on youtube, seen the sustainiac site, and wanted to try one. Guitar Center never has them in stock though, so I had to order one, knowing they've got the 30-day return period. I got it home, plugged it in, and was underwhelmed by the sustainer. It worked, sometimes, for some notes. Others it did nothing for. The harmonic settings were more likely to trigger on unmuted low strings than on higher strings I was actually playing. When the sustainer is off, it works like an active pickup. The problem with this is that you then have one active and two passive pickups - not a good combination in my opinion. I couldn't find anything really bad about it, but for the price, I couldn't justify it and returned it. I think I'd be just as happy with a standard dinky without the sustainiac, without spending as much.

  • Most Insane Guitar Ever!!!

As reviewed by Matt on 7/9/2010

This guitar is insane!!! The TB-4 is pretty versatile, though when I buy the guitar I am going to change it just for my playing style. I liked this guitar because it reminded me of the more expensive Jackson models, but at a significantlly lower price. What's more, the Sustainiac is complete insanity! It makes the guitar perfect for metal or anything in which you might need an ebow. Just go buy one today.
