With the JJ El84 you get a combination of both great tone and reliability. This tube is characterized by sparkling highs, good mids, and a solid bottom end. Quality construction and a low failure rate make this tube a terrific choice for any amp requiring EL84 tubes.

  • Best current production EL84s I've used.

As reviewed by Josh on 4/13/2011

These things are a huge improvement over the cheap stock tubes in alot of amps these days. I switched my Pro Junior over to JJs, and it cut down on all of the hissing, buzzing and popping I got with the original tubes. It sounds great, and I'm not nearly as worried about power tubes going out, because these things run so much more smoothly.

  • Big improvement

As reviewed by randy pitman on 2/18/2013

My Fender Blues Junior was functioning just fine with stock Groove Tubes. I had read about the JJ's so tried a matched set. I do not believe my stock tubes were worn out as no typical signs of weak tubes was occurring. These new tubes made a very notable difference. Highs, mids, lows and even the reverb had a much smoother and definable tone with a resonance I never heard from a Blues Junior. I have owned 3 Juniors. I am very pleased with the results. Many forums etc. say the tubes alone will not do much. In my case, the improvement was well worth the effort.

  • wow!

As reviewed by Douglas Hall on 12/19/2012

I have a Vox AC30cc2 that I bought off of Craigslist. Its previous history was unknown. It worked fine and sounded good but I really had no other Vox amp to compare it to so as to know whether it sounded right or not. So one night I'm practicing and the amp goes quiet. Spoke to my tube amp tech friend and he recommended replacing all of the tubes including the power tubes, pre amp, and rectifier. I ordered these JJ tubes and all of the others too (they were JJ as well). Installed them myself,,,and wow!! This amp sounds remarkably better. Its brighter, punchier, clearer, etc. It now sounds like what I thought a Vox amp was supposed to sound like. The tube replacement was very easy (I still need to bias the power tubes). One thing I found out during this process and was surprised that I didn't know is that you want to replace your tubes in a tube amp periodically. They don't last for ever,,,,,,and as they age the quality of the amp sound decays. Now I know. Side note. The tubes that came out of the amp were Mesa tubes (so it had been re tubed once before). This may have been part of the reason that the amp didn't sound like I thought a Vox should.
