Overview

The PRX700 Series represents an evolutionary step in powered speaker design. Efficient amplifier power, rugged durability and enhanced versatility combine together in a self-powered loudspeaker designed from the ground up to perform in the real world of sound reinforcement. Inconvenient audio environments, high ambient noise levels and loud volumes are typical features of performing, and the PRX700 Series is adept at meeting all of these challenges. They are the first systems to use JBL's patented Differential Drive technology with ferrite drivers featuring high power, wide bandwidth and low distortion. Versatile, scalable, easy-to-transport and set up, the PRX700 Series use JBL's tour tested technology throughout for a lifetime of reliable performance you can trust.

The JBL PRX715XLF is a powered extended low frequency subwoofer system with a 1500-watts of Class D power. The clarity of this enclosure relative to its volume is revolutionary. JBL's Differential Drive technology incorporates lower mass in the ferrite magnet for reduced weight while maximizing power amp efficiency for greater heat dissipation and increased power handling.

Comments about JBL PRX715XLF 15" Powered Extended Low-Frequency Subwoofer:

Using two of these subs for my one-man-band act, added to two PRX715 tops (also bought the gas-assist poles). A very powerful, full-range system at an amazingly light weight. I needed a portable system for a live solo act (using no pre-recorded music; backing tracks; or musical looping) in which I present guitar; Midi bass pedals; drum computer; harmonicas; vocals; and guitar synthesizer. All this sound hits a P.A. system like a full band; this is not the studio processed (compressed and limited) music that DJ's are lucky to be able to work with. The PRX system (715 tops and these 715XLF) does the job with clear sound, at a very high volume.

    Lots of BOOM!!

Comments about JBL PRX715XLF 15" Powered Extended Low-Frequency Subwoofer:

Ok, so it's not perfect, but it's pretty close. Depending on what you do with it you will LOVE this sub. Let me begin by saying it weighs 56 lbs. That's not a typo. One person can carry this bad boy & it pounds hard. JBL is doing things well with the PRX series. The sub is a little "boomy" and sounds more like a bandpass box rather than a nice tight/clean sound. Depending on what you use it for, this might bother you. However if you listen to other subs in this price range, they have the same issue. Not sure if it's by design or if it's a way of saving a few bucks/pounds. If you listen to electronic music (Daft Punk sounds phenomenal) or old school (think Brass Monkey) then this thing pounds like there is no tomorrow. If you are looking for extreme clarity & distinctive bass notes (ex: classical or DMB), this is not the sub for you. Some notes sound more like the rumble of thunder instead of a bass guitar string. Demo them in the store & you will know what I mean. We pair it with a set of JBL PRX615's (love em) & it really fills in the bottom end. Not overpowering, but complimentary. The PRX series is great for mobile dj's who need to get in & out quick. You will not loosen the foundation of a building, but you will impress your audience with a great sounding system for under $3,000 total that fits in most cars--no van required. It hits hard & goes all night. There is a built in cooling fan (nice feature) to keep the amp cool. My only complaints on this sub are the M20 threaded pole mount on top (should I throw away my old poles?) & the lack of "clarity" in the bass notes, neither of which would prevent me from buying another one (years from now when the mfg warranty runs out). This sub has an 18" big brother (add 25 lbs & $250), but one trip up/down a flight of steps & you will wish you bought this one instead.
