The PRX618S-XLF extended low frequency subwoofer was designed and engineered to provide sub-bass frequencies with accuracy and power. Used as a single sub, in a sub/sat system, or in multiples as part of a scalable, large format sound reinforcement system, the PRX618S-XLF performs with extreme efficiency and control. This sub is stackable and lightweight, ensuring quick setups and teardowns. And, due to its rugged construction, it's perfect for AV rental inventories. With a pole receptacle (that accepts a SS4-BK or SS4-BK24, sold separately) on the top panel and integrated stereo pass-thru, this is the most powerful low-frequency complement to the PRX full-range systems. The addition of a polarity reverse option further enables system optimization.

The PRX618S-XLF is a high performance self-powered subwoofer system. The PRX618S-XLF is comprised of a powerful 2268FF Differential Drive dual voice-coil and magnetic gap, neodymium woofer driven by a 1000W (dual 500W) Crown Class-D power amplifier. Dual-Bridge Technology directly links discrete amplifier channel outputs to each voice coil in the Differential Drive woofer. Electrical power transfer to the transducer is optimized for more power performance. A proprietary DSP chip is at the core of a fully featured input section, providing user selectable cross-over functionality, polarity optimization, protection, dynamic limiting, and discrete component optimization.

The amplifier input panel offers stereo inputs with XLR or 1/4" jack compatibility. A user-selectable crossover ensures a smooth transition to full-range system connected to the stereo outputs. Signal present and limiter lights indicate the system status and assist in setting the optimum level, via the level control knob.

Like all the PRX600 Series cabinets, the PRX618S-XLF is built from a combination of 25mm (on the top and bottom for added rigidity) and 18mm, strong, lightweight poplar plywood made structurally sound with tongue and groove joints. All PRX600 Series cabinets are protected by JBL's tour proven DuraFlex finish. The grille is made from dent-resistant 16-gauge steel and its handles are made from lightweight glass-filled nylon for added strength and durability.

Special note: JBL highly recommends that no more than 70 pounds of weight be placed on a speaker pole that is mounted to a PRX618S or PRX618S-XLF.

Intense clean bass

from Sacramento, CA

In early June of 2013, I rented two PRX618s-XLF's, brand new out of the box, along with a set of 615m uppers, for an outdoor underground "deep house" party on Maui. I was simply blown away at the clean power that these ultra portable sub cabs have. We coupled them (side by side) in front of the DJ and used the internal crossover to remove the sub frequencies from the uppers. The uppers were placed ~15' to each side of the sub cabs. The party was outdoors essentially in an open field. In this environment, these subs produced a very clean, very low, body impacting bass. The dance "field" was very electric and the bass was extremely palpable over 100' to the side of the cabinets. The pressure waves from the front were awesome. We ran them full on and they worked all night without any hiccups. The amps were self limiting and never thermaled. The amp, crossover, limiter and other DSP electronics as well as the drivers seemed perfectly mated and adjusted from the start. I received an email from a promoter friend shortly after the party to inquire the model of these cabinets as he and the others in attendance were so impressed. With a history of 20 years as a club DJ and underground dance music party promoter with a love of deep, clean, powerful bass, I can say that for mobile DJ gigs, especially indoors, two of these would meet almost any need. For very impressive bass in a club setting, I would use two cabinets per 150 people. For extremely impressive bass and greater headroom, I would use two per 100 people. I would always use them in sets of two and, except for very large rooms, would keep them together as a bass production wall. I can't comment on the long term reliability except to say that Crown produces great amps and JBL produces quality drivers.

SICK, JBL beated QSC on this one because... 1. It's 1000WTs 2. 133db 3. it shakes the room. what would be good with this sub would be the prx 615M, EON 515XT or outhers but I would rec to anyone who wants a good sub. thankyou GC and Jbl.

Unreal clarity, from this lightweight cab.

from Branchburg, NJ

I heard this at both a local Guitar Center, and at a DJ Expo in NJ in August. This cabinet sound fantastic! It has the Class D amps in it so it is very portable, and easy to move. I love that it goes down to 30 Hz, which is sub-bass, so you get the needed bottom for some bassy dance and hip hop songs. The cabinet has a threaded pole mount, but the pole is not included, and it does not have casters, but it only weighs 80 pounds, so its not that big of a deal. I love the crossover in it, and the HPF is fantastic. The blue LED on the front is a bonus feature, but it can not be turned off, (its not super bright anyway). If you want serious bass from a fairly small cabinet, you should get this. The sound it pure, and not distorted at all. JBL and all audio companies are coming a long way, and I can not wait to see what the future brings in mobile Pro Audio systems.

Amazing speaker

from la, ca

I just used these at their first gig last night and was so so pleased. The show was for 450-500 people and they were used with 4 15" 2 way speakers (400rms) each. they really brought out the lows and shook the room. I was at a local audio store today looking to buy a couple extra for my additional rig when I heard the brand new Behringer 1800 pro speaker and WOW. I can hardly hear the difference between the two, the behringer was louder but probably due to the fact that it was in a smaller room and it was a stand alone speaker. Technically the behringer puts out 1000watts rms 1400 max and has more crossover controls than the jblۡs. Anyway I just bought two new behringers for less than one jbl :-D take a look its worth it.
