The LSR305, part of JBL's 3 Series studio monitors, is a 5" powered studio monitor delivering professional performance at an affordable price points. 3 Series Powered Studio Monitors are first to incorporate JBL's exciting new technology, the Image Control Waveguide. In conjunction with 3 Series high-performance transducers and system components, the Image Control Waveguide lets you hear detail and depth in recordings as you've never heard before.

The LSR305's 5" long-throw woofer and its 1" damped woven composite Neodymium tweeter are designed from the ground up to reproduce the powerful transients and micro dynamics of your mix. These drivers deliver impressive deep bass and smooth high frequency response beyond the range of human hearing.

JBL's Patented Slip Stream low frequency port design works in concert with the woofer to produce deep bass response at all playback levels. The double-flared shape of the port is precisely engineered for greater low-frequency extension and reduced turbulence.

Big Power, Big Sound
3 Series efficient Class D Amplifiers provide abundant power to deliver the output and dynamic headroom needed for the most demanding production styles

Professional Balanced Inputs
Balanced XLR and 1/4" (6 mm) TRS inputs give you the options you need to connect your 3 Series to any signal source while maintaining professional signal quality.

Selectable Input Sensitivity
The -10 dB/+4 dB sensitivity switch ensures compatibility with a broad range of signal sources, allowing you to connect the 3 Series to high output professional gear without any danger of input overload.

LF Trim and HF Trim "TRIM" switches for both the Low and High Frequencies give you excellent control over the 3 Series sound in "your" room. Use these to fine-tune the amount of bass and treble you hear to compensate for room acoustics, program material and your personal taste.

JBL Professional Reliability
Prior to becoming a production-ready design, each 3 Series model is subjected to JBL's tough 100-hour power test, in which the speaker is required to play continually at full output for 100 hours without failure. This demanding test ensures your 3 Series speakers will deliver years of reliable performance.

JBL LSR Design - Your Music Needs a Point of Reference
While most manufacturers take only a single on axis measurement of the speaker's performance, this doesn't tell how it will sound in your room. JBL's LSR Linear Spatial Reference design criteria requires seventy-two measurements yielding more than 1,200 times more data, enabling JBL to engineer a speaker that "sounds right" in any working space. With LSR design, 3 Series Studio Monitors deliver superior accuracy regardless of the size and shape of your room, so your mixes "hit their mark" when heard on any playback system.

Just picked these babies up yesterday, and although I need to break them in, they sound nothing short of incredible. I listened to a whole bunch of monitors in different stores. I was blown away with the clarity of the high frequency, and the smoothness of the mid range. Lets face it.....we all know that the Low Frequency is always going to suffer with a 5 inch woofer. There is no way around it, and those are just the facts. I happened to have a JBL 2300 Sub already, and thought I should probably match the monitors with the sub. Well I am glad I did because you can legitimately pick out each instrument in a good mix......I believe thats what you want in a monitor. Every tone should be flat, which they are. I am EXTREMELY happy with these monitors. I picked the JBLs because of the amp set up. I thought it to be logical in that it has a 41W for the HF, and 41W for the LF. Seems like it is a good idea. If you dont have matching amps, wouldnt you think that dips in the lower wattage tweeter frequency would get lost somewhere?? I think so. Thanks for listening to my review, I hope it helps someone with the long process of trying to decide.....It was ROUGH for me! I didnt want to get stuck with regret. I will report back once i get about 30 hours on these things..... THANKS!

Great sound but terrible reliability.

Great imaging. Incredible price. Clear without aural fatigue. If JBL would correct the power supply issue experienced by so many, these speakers would receive top billing.

RIDICULOUS

By samuel juarez

from Nassau County, NY

Comments about JBL LSR305 5" Powered Studio Monitor:

First and foremost, i'm using these for production but within setting them up, plugging them into my sub and then into my computer.... I had to try some songs out. WOW. just wow. bass on these is fantastic, everything is just crystal clear and comes alive... if you close your eyes and listen to a song it's almost as if it's being played right in front of you live! so amazing.... and not to mention the STEREO IMAGE on these are fantastic.... it almost feels as if it's slightly touching your ears haha, wow. I'm more into electronic music production, but after listening to rock songs and hearing the percussion end of things, this makes me that much better with creating drum patterns and tweaking them to sound live. These are based off a very expensive model I believe, for the price though, you honestly just cannot go wrong with the 305's. LOVE THEM. ABSOLUTELY RECCOMEND big ups to Dave!

Low Price for High Quality!!!

Comments about JBL LSR305 5" Powered Studio Monitor:

I've been in the process of recording and mastering my first album and getting the volume levels to match from car speakers to headphones to computer speakers left me so frustrated. That is until I bought two JBL LSR305 stereo speakers. I was skeptical because of the low price but was absolutely taken aback from the high quality I heard. In one sitting, I remastered a song and leveled everything out to perfection. My father who has played bass for many years and was "close but no cigar" to making it big was thoroughly impressed as well. To all young musicians that need good stereo speakers to properly mix with while also needing to stay within a tight budget, these are the speakers for you. I even plan on buying extra speakers just to listen to music casually around the apartment.

BUY THESE!!!

By Aaron

Comments about JBL LSR305 5" Powered Studio Monitor:

Went into guitar center with LSR308's in mind. Didn't have enough money though... so I started listening to all the monitors they had set up. Listened to several speakers and all in all, the best sounding speakers were the Yamaha H8's... but they were $350 per speaker. A close second was the LSR305's which sounded amazing for a 5" speaker!!! These things sounded great in the store, but it was only when I got them home that i saw their true potential!!! I cranked the volume and even when my ears hurt from the loudness, the sound was still clear!!! These speakers are good at what they do!!! The bass isn't overwhelming, and I'll probably get a sub at some point, but for now they're great!!!

Excellent choice for low cost monitor

By James

from Berkeley, CA

Comments about JBL LSR305 5" Powered Studio Monitor:

I wanted to get a quality monitor on my tight budget which meant a 5-6" monitor. After listening for an hour to all the monitors at my local store I chose this one because it simply has the best sound. It also does not have any gimmicks like a "built in USB interface". Not only does it sound accurate and clean but it sounds "live" in a way that none of the other monitors do (I assume due to the waveguide tweeter). On top of that the case is well constructed and knobs and such feel solid as well. One nice feature is the volume knob has indents (clicks every few degrees) so you can more easily set the same volume on both monitors. I really have nothing negative to say about these and would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality monitor that does what is is supposed to, accurately reproduce sound.

Love these, 5 stars. No complaints. I had the 8" version before I got these so I've heard both in the same room. The sound so so very close on these you can't really tell except in the very lowest frequencies. Buy whichever version fits your budget and room. You'll be happy.

Comments about JBL LSR305 5" Powered Studio Monitor:

Havn't run the that often. But they are kinda the speakers you always wanted if you want flat.
They will actually sound too bassy off axis or across the room, but wnen you sit between them it's all good.
The bass is amazingly deep and controlled for this cab size/driver/power. As in nobody is close.
And Im not some JBL fanboy. I have/had Yorkville, M-aduio, Yamaha. These sound about as good as Yorkville with twice the cabinet size. In fact these are maybe a bit more flat and a little deeper base.
Soundstage/openess/airyness maybe a little shallow, but that's a tricky thing to hear/measure. Tonal really flat, maybe just a couple db bump of missing hear and there. But closer than anything in it's class by far. Yam, BX5, kRK, Tannoy, etc...these make them sound like toys. It's like there is literally no other choice if you want flat and full. Nothing hyped or missing. Read around you will find similar praise all over the place. Can't comment on durability, just hope for the best. Haven't dealt with JBL directly but I think they are probably decent in that respect. "Flat" can sound weird if you arn't used to it. Yam's usually have hyped mids. KRK's usually bass heavy. M-Audio BX-5 was lacking in mid-voice or something like that (I didn't plot them lol, I just returned them).

      Full, articulate, smooth, non-fatigue.

      For Thee Professional

      By ALPHONSO

Comments about JBL LSR305 5" Powered Studio Monitor:

These are a great addition to your studio environment. I would NOT recommend these to someone with a "LIMITED" home studio. For producers: If you produce at home and sometimes have to keep the volume down, these are not for you. You wont get the full affect when played at minimal levels. They are extremely accurate! I can turn them ALL the way up and still get a clear rich sound. I feel as if they are best when turned up a couple notches. Beautiful design, fits anywhere, easily connects with your audio interface BUT the XLR to 1/4 jack cables are not included.
