these speakers are super super light, they look nice and clean with set up. i dj a lot and i have to be honest, with all jbl products i have owned these have given me the worst problems. these speakers cannot handle bottom end especially when mixing tracks they tend to clip and cut off (real nasty sound). these speakers are great for 100 people at the most with light talking i wouldnt recommend these speakers to a dj who knows how to mix and scratch they wont hold up. i will be buying a couple sets of the prx series hopefully they can with stand some heavy hitting bass.

Comments about JBL EON315 15" 280-Watt Powered PA Speaker:

We picked up two of these bad boys a few weeks back and they're amazing. The power and sound quality is AMAZING. If you're on the fence just jump in and buy these, you won't be disappointed. Very crisp highs and mids.

Great Speakers!

By Jesse

Comments about JBL EON315 15" 280-Watt Powered PA Speaker:

I had a Harbinger PA system that I bought for around 300 dollars. I went cheap. They blew the first show I had and I only play acoustic. I then decided to purchase a Behringer mixer and ran it into just ONE of these and man.. It sounds amazing! The bass was so clear and thick yet the highs and mids were crisp and full. I am going to buy another one of these for sure!

Best weight-to-performance ratio

By Kurt

from PA and NY

Comments about JBL EON315 15" 280-Watt Powered PA Speaker:

After comparing PA speakers for over a year - I finally settled on the EONs. Ultimately it came down to either the EON 315 or the Mackie SRM450v2. The EON was lighter weight, better priced, more well built, and has better low end response. In terms of maximum SPL the Mackie may have it by a slight edge but the SRM450 has known overheating problems and also LOUD Technologies (Parent company of Mackie) is having financial difficulties and cannot keep up with demand. Ive been using my JBLs for a while now and have not had a single problem and I really love the low end response on these with the 15" woofer (compared to the Mackies 12"). In my experience I cannot recommend a better speaker at this price point. Are there better speakers out there? Sure - but the EON is an industry standard that is univerally respected for good reason. JBL invented the Active loudspeaker and it shows in the quality of the EON 315. Downsides: Can be harsh at higher SPLs and limits pretty easily when in Boost mode. Looks of it are love it or hate it. Upsides: Great build quality, great low end response, extremely light weight. Overall: I couldnt take any other speaker at this price - everything considered.

Blew me socks off!

By Matthew

Comments about JBL EON315 15" 280-Watt Powered PA Speaker:

This superb sounding speaker system is a good choice for a good many venues; from the local cattlemen's association meeting to the local christian rock band to, Sunday church services. Of special note is its ability to work directly with a microphone, absent any external pre-amplifier or mixing device and, its ability to work with the usual gamut of line level sources. I was stunned by the sound quality from the EON 315 speaker. I've six of them. They are perfect for mains and floor monitors. The XLR inputs allow for use with the best cable and zero power loss due to long runs of speaker cable. Internal amplifiers make for the most in flexibility. A definite must have for the sound man!

Ok but ...

By Foo Dump

from Siler City NC

Comments about JBL EON315 15" 280-Watt Powered PA Speaker:

Gigged with 2 for over a year. Overall these are good speakers, esp considering power vs. weight. But ... the bass end cut out on one while under warranty. Easy minor repair, low-freq vibration just shook loose a connector to the speaker that wasn't properly seated at the factory. Using hi-Z input it isn't loud enough. If your mixer has XLR outs, use 'em. If not, a cheap TRS-to-XLR adapter w/ the 315 mic input level setting delivers the expected volume for a 280W amp. Counterintuitive, but it is what it is. 4 out of 5 for minor annoyances in an otherwise good product.

Very High Quality But

By John Marzich

from Arroyo Grande, Ca

Comments about JBL EON315 15" 280-Watt Powered PA Speaker:

Bought these with the DBX speaker managment bundle. They sound great and pleanty of power but no matter what I do or adjust even with no connection to them the horns have a noisy floor? They touted the spec's of being quiet and then this? Yeah you don't hear it when volume is up but ShHHHHHHHHHH coming out is not very impressive on lower volumes. E-Mail JBL support and natuarlly NO replay. Probably should re-write the sn/spec to be ethical. Other than that yes they are great and comparing to other brands the sound is very good once your above the SHHHHHH levels...

Sacrificing bells and whistles for JBL sound

By ERIC MANACSA

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about JBL EON315 15" 280-Watt Powered PA Speaker:

I've been using these speakers for about a month. They sound nice in the house. Did well in the garage for a New Year's party and did pretty well in a restaurant hall. Pros: light JBL quality sound Cons: expensive only 280w limited inputs limited EQ I'm rushing to get a subwoofer to complete this set. It really needs more low end. Make sure to get this with a coupon. It's very limited for something costing over $500.

Comments about JBL EON315 15" 280-Watt Powered PA Speaker:

I run these as my garage speakers. I also use them occasionally at relatives weddings. Have two 315's and a 618s. Only problem I have with them is if I play them loud, they shake everything in the garage till it falls off of the shelf it's sitting on. Not the speakers mind you, they're on stands, but spray paint cans, tools, anything just sitting there ends up on the floor!

Don't let the low power fool you

    By Eric Manacsa

    from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about JBL EON315 15" 280-Watt Powered PA Speaker:

I just did a party in a basketball gym for the first time at a community center. I've had these for a year and it was my 4th event. I'm no pro DJ but I don't see why anyone wouldn't appreciate these speakers. I ran them at about 65% volume and the sound was crisp at the farthest corners of the gym. I never pushed these speakers to clip. I paid attention closely to the volume. Ran them for 4 hours straight without any issues. I'm really glad I chose these. I would rarely ever do events so I didn't want expensive tops but I also wanted quality sound. Sitting at a guest table about 50ft away, the sound was good but I could still carry a conversation comfortably. If the type of party your shooting for is so loud you can't talk to anyone then perhaps you really want more power.

    Using it as Keyboard Amp

    By eliud

    from Boston, MA

Comments about JBL EON315 15" 280-Watt Powered PA Speaker:

I went to Guitar Center to buy a keyboard amp for small gigs. Ended up buying the 315 because it's so light and compact. I used it for a wedding and I was very pleased with the sound and how easy it is to transport! Might just go ahead and buy the second one soon! I bought the carrying case online and it is also wonderful! It fits the speaker like a glove!

Good For What We Use Them For

    By Dennis

    from Eugene, Oregon

Comments about JBL EON315 15" 280-Watt Powered PA Speaker:

I bought this speaker to replace one we've been gigging with for 6 years that got dropped too hard once too often. We're an acoustic band and use them more for sound reinforcement than for full-on amplification. Anyplace we need that and the venue supplies the PA. The good-- fast, easy setup, light weight, clean sound, no need for an amp or amp rack. With these speakers, we can be set up with a PA, 8 mics, maybe a DI, and run a sound check in 30-40 minutes. The bad-- sound is clean, but kinda lacking in presence, which isn't really such a problem if folks can here you to some degree without speakers. Seriously lacking in bottom end; you're better off using using a small amp than plugging a string bass into the PA via a DI. If you drop one too hard, they break, and they're not serviceable. If we lose another one like this, we'll probably be taking a real hard look at passive speakers and an amp. Even with the extra setup work, it's easier not to drop an amp than a speaker.
