Availability:

Super compact with flexible connections and mounting possibilities.

The MRX518S is a compact, high-power subwoofer containing a 2044G 18" woofer in a front-loaded, vented enclosure. The speaker enclosure is designed to present a minimum frontal area. The system offers complete input connection flexibility for compatibility with a variety of cabling schemes. The input panel incorporates a pair of Neutrik Speakon NL-4 connectors wired in parallel. The MRX518S is supplied with pins +1/-1 connected to the woofer. This may be easily reconfigured to work with cabling systems intended to drive subwoofers on pins +2/-2. For "subwoofer/satellite" configurations, the MRX518S audio speaker is equipped with a top-mounted, 36mm polemount socket that can receive the optional SS3-BK pole. This can be used to mount speakers equipped with standard 35mm pole sockets and weighing up to 100 lbs. The enclosure is constructed of top-quality plywood, coated in JBL's rugged DuraFlex finish, and braced to maximize low-frequency performance. The attractive CNC-machined, 16-gauge steel grille is internally lined with an acoustically transparent screen to provide additional driver protection and give a very professional appearance.

  • Get The Right Amp - These POUND!

As reviewed by DJ Tony C on 10/19/2006

I now own two of the JBL MRX518S Subwoofers. I use them with a QSC amp and these babies hit hard! I tried it out at the Tacoma Guitar Center and was really impressed with how hard it hit and how clear the bass sound was. I used these at a school dance, and the kids loved the bass sound - not because it was loud, but because it provided the right emphasis to the music and didn't overpower the cabs I had and there wasn't a loud bass sound that distorted the music. I love the JBL MRX line and I will soon buy into the complete system!

  • If weight is a factor, you'll want the JBLMRX518s.

As reviewed by TheBeeOBee on 10/31/2006

I bought a pair of these at Guitar Center to go with the MRX515 tops. These MRX518s subs are quite subtle as far as subs go, and dont necessarily give you the "I need a chiropractor" feeling. Instead, they give you a great sense of a much "fuller" sound being reproduced in the room and everyone will immediately notice the difference in your setup when you turn them on. At the first gig I used these in, that is what we experienced. While the band was setting up, i was playing music through the sound system...i forgot to turn the sub on...when i realized and turned on the amp the whole place started bobbing their heads and gave me compliments on the sound. I do like a more sub-heavy sound so I may still purchase the dual subs, but if size and weight is a factor, these are some of the best in the category. Just remember, get some good amps! They like at least 1000 watts at 4ohms. It's worth getting the quality to get the best out of these wonderul speakers.

  • Good Smooth Punch

As reviewed by Mike on 12/15/2008

We bought a pair of these for a small church install along with the MRX 515 mains. They have good punch and are not overly sloppy sounding. You will want to tune your crossover frequency based upon your room and how tight you want the bass to be. As you dial up the crossover frequency, they will lose a little of the boom and get little fuller sounding, but it really depends upon your room. We analyzed (RTA) the room after install and found that these subs were super even from 40Hz to 90Hz. Use the 40Hz rolloff button if your crossover has one, otherwise it can get too muddy.
