Light weight, heavy-duty, high-output portable sound.

The JBL MRX512M is a portable 12" - 2-way bass reflex PA speaker cabinet designed for sound reinforcement and monitoring applications. The MRX512M speaker uses a JBL 262H 12" Differential Drive woofer and a 2408H 1.5" annular polymer diaphragm, neodymium compression driver. A 70° x 70° horn provides smooth, even coverage whether used in vertical (mains) or horizontal (monitor) orientation. NL4 connectors are provided on both ends of the audio speaker to keep cable runs tidy on stage when used in the monitor application and for easy access when used on tripods. A passive network provides accurate reproduction throughout the crossover region. Use the JBL speaker on a tripod or over a subwoofer, JBL's dual-angle polemount is included. This feature allows it to be mounted in a vertical position or with a 10° down tilt for optimum audience coverage. The MRX512M speaker enclosure is constructed of quality plywood and coated in JBL's rugged DuraFlex finish. The attractive CNC-machined, 16-gauge steel grille wraps around the sides of the enclosure. The grilles are internally lined with an acoustically transparent screen to provide additional driver protection and give a very professional appearance.

  • High quality and low weight!

As reviewed by Timothy Gurshin on 7/25/2009

I use these for acoustic guitar and vocals and I love them. They produce high quality, full range sound, and they are surprisingly light in weight. The cabinet shape is designed to be versatile which is also a plus. I use them with a Mackie mixer/amp, and I get compliments on my PA sound! They are not cheap, but they do deliver.

  • Love These!

As reviewed by Mike on 3/31/2010

These are extremely nice monitors, and could easily be used as mains in small situations or with subwoofer support. They weigh a fraction of what my old 15-horn T115s weighed. The first night I had them, I connected them to my Carvin 1015 monitor amp through my C1644U mixer, and they sounded unreal. With some EQ boost for the highs and lows, they shined. When I pushed them, they pushed BACK and responded very nicely. In the music store where I bought them, I tried them on a stage against the Yamaha SM12V and JRX112. The Yamaha was pretty close, til I pushed the levels. It started to break up where the MRX512M stayed loud and clear. The JRX was left in the dust, but I thought it had better bass response than the SM12V. At gig time, these rocked. The Peaveys had been sucking up so much power that I had my monitor sends at 5-6. That almost blew me off the stage with these. I cut the sends down to 3-4, the monitor amp ran much cooler, and I had a ton of headroom. So in short, if you can spend the money, I say do it. I have never had a monitor so easy to carry 1 in each hand, small stage footprint, with plenty of clear sound. The coverage is great too. The icing on the cake is that the speakon connectors are on opposite ends for daisy chaining.

  • Don't Buy These

As reviewed by Fat Cat Guitar on 3/30/2007

I bought a pair of these speakers and they sound like a 49 cent transistor radio. You have to severely eq the mix to get anything close to a flat response. These were all midrange and highly feedback prone out of the box. The ones I got may have had a problem, but when I first check them they sounded 100 times worse than my Yamaha 12" floor monitors.
