Powerful, lightweight, and reliable.

The JBL EON515 is a 15-inch, two-way, powered, portable speaker system. Capable of reproducing full bandwidth sound at high levels it offers the additional utility of a 3 channel built-in mixer. The EON515 speaker is comprised of a 15" Differential Drive woofer, a 1" neodymium high frequency compression driver coupled to a 100° H by 60° V waveguide. Both components are driven by the discrete channels of a 450 W Crown Class-D integrated power amplifier. The input section contains all crossover functions, protection, and audio mixer functionality.
The mixer offers XLR or 1/4-inch TRS phone jack compatibility. Selectable input sensitivities allow a broad range of devices to be properly matched. A unique mix/loop signal low router provides opportunities for daisy chaining or gigging with the built-in mixer only. Pre-engineered system EQs allow for matching the settings to the actual source material. In the "cut" position maximum level can be achieved for speech reproduction by reducing need to reinforce the lower frequencies. This is also a typical setting when using the PA speaker system as a floor monitor, reducing low frequency build-up that occurs naturally when placed on a floor. The "flat" setting is ideal for live music and the "boost" for reproducing low level pre-recorded music, delivering extra low and high frequency energy. The signal present and limit lights indicate performance status. JBL included an additional switch that kills the illuminated logo in theater applications.

  • Nice Sound!

As reviewed by DJ Sly on 2/1/2010

Bought these about a year ago. Apart from the fact the speakers look good, most importantly they are very light and ideal for the mobile DJ. I complemented these with a pair of EONs 518 subs. To get the most out of these, you will need a good mixer otherwise it will not drive the speakers appropriately and output will not sound as it should. This offers more range than the older versions but if you do not drive them right you won't get the desired output. On there own (515s) they are nice but, with the 518s you can do decent gigs and hold your own.

  • Long Time EONG2 15 owner - Big Disappointment

As reviewed by Russ on 8/4/2009

I was so excited to get these speakers to replace my G2 15s 450 watt speakers and was so bummed how they operate. I called JBL tech support and when through the settings with him to no avail. He said - "oh ya, we went a different direction with the G3s and you need a very powerful mixer." So yes, you do need a very powerful mixer. I use a Newmark for DJing and it's no where near powerful enough. Unlike the G2s, with the G3s I can't just plug a computer into them in a pinch if I needed to. Very low sounding volume and pumping them up just makes them clip. My G2s I only need to put up to 1/3 volume and they fill a room. Why have powered speaker with a semi-mixer built in if you have to have a very high end mixer to lug around? If you have a very powerful mixer and you don't care about being able to use them without a mixer apparently you're good to go. JBL should have called them something else since they really aren't anything like the G2s.

  • How could they improve upon perfection?

As reviewed by Charles A. LaMantia on 1/3/2009

I've been very happy using the JBL Eon G-2 15's for years now. I certainly was excited to get to use the entire line for 2008 Christmas and Corporate Events. I couldn't get over the light weight, they were so easy to mount on the pole and a few times guests at the parties, asked if I had additional speakers hidden from the public view. Looking forward to using them at all of my gigs in 2009.
