After a 4th floor walk-up gig carrying my older 47 lb. EONs, 4 passive JBL floor monitors and heavy Mackie amp, it was time to go lighter without sacrificing sound quality. Because of their light weight and good sound, these are the first PA speakers I?ve owned that I?ve hooked up in my basement to listen through between gigs. I use them in conjunction with a dbx DriveRack PX which smoothes the sound in that particular room, I then role off the highs somewhat (16K). I can listen to rock or classical through these and they sound like really good stereo speakers ? that can play REALLY LOUD. This is a high compliment coming from a recovering audiophile.

I've owned this product for about 2 weeks now. It looks sharp and sounds great.
I purchased this unit to use with my Digitech RP1000. Since the RP1000 does amp/speaker modeling I wanted an amp that has a pretty flat frequency response (guitar amps do NOT). While overall this unit sounds crisp & clean it also has roughly a 3db boost in the 100hz - 130hz range. This may not seem like an issue but it actually doubles the volume in that range of notes (G - D on the low string on a guitar) and they sound somewhat boomy relative to other notes. I do not consider this to be a problem as a simple notch filter (which I plan to design and build myself) placed between the RP1000 and the EON should eliminate this issue. Other than that I like this unit and feel it will meet my needs in the long run.
The power amp runs fairly cool. The EON is very quite with no signal and quite loud at full volume. Plenty of volume for use during jam sessions and live performances with a full band. I plan to use this for Blues, Rock, and Jazz based music.
i bought these puppies about a month ago and let me tell you i couldnt be happier. My choices where these and some qsc's and boy am i glad i got them and not the qsc's. Firstly, its lightweight, nice looking,LOUD as hell and compact, whats there not to like about them. Its funny how i read reviews on forums and people instantly badmouth jbl on past experiences and make false assumptions on this box. Wait till they get a hold of these speakers and listen to them they'll wish they never said anything in the first place. These speakers are bad ass i highly recommend them for someone who wants loud speakers without all the extra weight. JBL has outdone themselves again!!!!!!!
