The Intellitouch Freedom One provides a high-quality 24-bit digital wireless link between an instrument (guitar, bass, etc) and a pedal tuner, eliminating the cable normally attached to the instrument.

The Freedom One has two components: A compact wireless transmitter that plugs directly into a standard 1/4 inch output jack on a guitar or bass, and a pedal tuner with a 1/4 inch output that connects to an amplifier or other effects pedals.

The Freedom One's pedal has a built-in tuner with a large backlit display that changes from red to green when in tune. The tuner is automatic, chromatic, and displays the measured musical note on a large LCD screen for fast, easy tuning. The pedal also has a backlit footswitch that is easy to find on a dark stage. The footswitch turns on the tuner display and optionally mutes the output while tuning.

The Freedom One's pedal tuner also has a useful feature to save batteries - a backup input jack for an audio cable, so that the pedal tuner can still be used without the wireless transmitter. If a user wishes to consume no batteries while practicing, they simply plug the pedal into a standard 9v effect pedal power supply and connect an audio cable from their guitar to the extra input jack on the pedal. This feature's purpose is really for the environment, and is not needed for performance, as the Freedom One's transmitter squeezes an astounding 10 hours out of a single AAA battery.

Both the pedal and the transmitter are made from a strong, fiber-reinforced polymer. Effective range is 30 feet - plenty to cover most performance stages and practice rooms.

I was skeptical, but I bought the Freedom One in Atlanta last week and use it for my sessions at home. This wireless device is unbelievable. I can move around my studio, without pulling the cable around with me and the sound is much better than I imagined. I knew the Intellitouch Brand as I own several of the clip tuners. But I have to say this may be the best piece of gear I have purchased in several years. And for this price, I just can't say enough. The transmitter is lightweight but seems very sturdy. The pedal feels solid to me when stepping on it and I'm not what you would call a small person. My only complaint is that I wish I had it years ago before I bought so many expensive cables!!

I bought this package as I was excited that someone finally came out with a simple, easy to use, inexpensive digital wireless system. I stopped by my local GC to get the system, and the store sales people did not even realize they had it on their shelves. After we found it on the shelf, both sales people downplayed the plastic housing, and the cheap feel of the system and tried to encourage me to by the 3x more expensive Line 6 G30. Well, I decided to take a chance on the Intellitouch system and brought it home. When I unpackaged the system, the dainty plastic housing was concerning to me, and it did not look like a piece of professional equipment to me. So, I thought maybe I?ll just use it for work in my home studio only and not for gigging. So I put the batteries in and hooked it up. The process was easy and intuitive. As soon as I unmuted my amp, I was met with sever 60 cycle hum from the system home. I unplugged, and re-plugged in the unit?still bad hum. I switched to another amp, still bad hum. I changed cables, no improvement. I tried running AC, then just DC, still hummed way bad. So I took everything apart, boxed it up and off to GC I go to get my money back. I?ve used the Line 6 G30, G50 and G90 and all three were flawless?G50; here I come!

Comments about Intellitouch Freedom One Digital Wireless System:

As a wireless it's signal is very poor. From guitar to amp is off by milliseconds. I contacted Intellitouch, they were aware of this. They promised to send me a newer improved unit and I would send them back my 2 units, they never followed through. Do yourself a favor buy a wire and a cheap tuner.

Comments about Intellitouch Freedom One Digital Wireless System:

Picked up mine from GC about 2 weeks ago. I've gigged with it twice now using 3 different guitars and had perfect performance. Exactly what I needed. Tuner worked great, wireless system worked great. I figured it was worth a shot at only a hundred bucks, I would have paid a lot more!

Still figuring out the range and sound quality - kinda spotty, drop outs at gig

    By MARK

    from Elkton MD

Comments about Intellitouch Freedom One Digital Wireless System:

Just bought this last week. It sounds great at home - in some ways it is better and clearer than a cable. Maybe a bit crisper - hard to define. But I really liked it as soon as I plugged it in, and when doing an A / B comparison to a good cable. I took it to it's first outside gig, and I immediately had drop outs. I got thru one song before it started to act up. The base unit was on top of the solid state Fender amp, wireless was plugged into guitar, and I was only standing about 4-5 feet away. The base was behind me, so my body was in between the base and the guitar transmitter. I quickly pulled the unit and plugged directly into the amp with a cable for the rest of the gig. Older bar/club. No wifi in place in club. Lots of patrons, very crowded, with folks using cell phones. Typical fluorescent lighting. All of the bands' gear was plugged into one circuit (best safest way to do things), and there was no other interference or hum in any of the amps or PA. I was running the base unit on battery, as recommended in manual to prevent electrical noise and interference. I will need to do some experimenting to find out what interferes, and what does/doesn't work. Right now, I am a bit concerned, because it seems reliable at home, but not reliable enough to trust for a gig.

The signal is off by milliseconds. Not a pro unit, I contacted Intellitouch and were aware of this. They told they would send me a new prototype and I would send back the 2 that I purchased. They never did. These should not be sold as a wireless unit.

          Just, wow

          By James Whitlock

          from Chicago, Illinois

Comments about Intellitouch Freedom One Digital Wireless System:

At my local Chicago Guitar Center, I found one of these sitting in their clearance bin. I didn't know what it was, and I figured it was a plastic pedal tuner. I thought "Since I need one anyway..." and went ahead and bought it. And by golly. I've had it for a couple of weeks now, practicing a few hours every week. The AAA battery for the transmitter is still running strong surprisingly, and I compared it back and forth with a regular cable. I didn't get the aforementioned 60 cycle hum in any case of me using this pedal. The tuner on it is a bit wonky, and is intuitive, but if you try tuning a second string immediately after tuning the first, it won't register right away. It's a bit of a nitpicky thing more than anything, so I digress. It tunes perfectly. The transmitter is beautifully done, albeit the design of it leaves it hanging oddly from my guitar, so I may just have to tape it down for gigs and such. Moved around the whole practice space which is an entire basement, and even went upstairs. Guitar came shining through everytime. Again, the only thing I'd be worried about in the slightest is the transmitter. I think it feels a tad flimsy, but I mean I paid ten dollars for this whole unit, so I can't complain in the sightest. I would recommend this system to anyone, even for the 100 dollars that Guitar Center wants for it. It works so well for the price, and is almost a third of anything with a brand name on it. Definitely worth it.
