Due to falling Les Paul sales, Gibson redesigned the Les Paul in 1960. For the next two years, Les Pauls hade the body style we now associate with the SG. Although popular, Les Paul himself didn't care for it. The name was officially changed to SG (solid guitar) in 1963.
