Gibson officially entered the electric bass market in 1953. With the introduction of the EB-1 (Electric Bass-1), a solid body inspired by the shape of classical violins. In '58, the EB-2 was launched, featuring a semi-hollow body resembling the ES-335. The very next year, oddly out of sequence, came the came the double cut, Les Paul Junior inspired EB-0. Finally, 1961 saw the release of the EB-3, a humbucking, SG inspired design that continued throughout the '70's.
