Although introduced in 1952, the Gibson Les Paul didn't receive the official definition of "standard" until 1960. Built with a maple capped mahogany body and two PAF humbuckers, the standard would become the most desired and valuable electric guitar in history. Played by the likes of Duanne Allman and Jimmy Page, it has truly become the "standard" rock/blues/jazz instrument.
