  I have a '87 Fender strat. Love that old guitar. So I cut my teeth on fenders. Got an Epi Les Paul a couple of years back and loved the feel. GC ran a great sale on these traditional pros so I finally jumped in and decided to get a genuine Gibson Les Paul. Had been looking at the Classic custom and then played this one. I like the gold top so I jumped on it. GC was great and ordered a brand new one as the one in the store had a scratch. So here we go. No string buzz, '60s slim neck is great, pickup's are better than the EMG 81/85's I have in my Epi. I like the all metal machined tuners on this one and to top it off they are locking tuners. I like the coil taps pickups as they can give you all sorts of tones. They could have done better putting gold speed knobs rather than the top hats. Speed knobs would be easier to grab as you are playing. The binding was smooth and crisp all the way around. The gold top finish looks a little thin but I might be a little critical as this is an expensive guitar and was going over with a fine tooth comb.

• Amazing Les Paul

  I just got this Les Paul Traditional Pro Goldtop at guitar center and it is just amazing. This is about tone and this guitar has it. Dark crunchy growl to shimmering bell like clean notes. This is as close to the Jimmy Page Les Paul you will ever find, many people are modding the electronics to add phase shifting like the JP Les Paul. From the pickups to the non-chambered mahogany body to the pleked 60's neck. Jamming through my Mesa this just rocks. For me it covers the tone from Santana to the Stones, Metallica to Alice in Chains. I can get the sound I could quite get on my Epiphone. Guitar Center was just awesome in the sale and support. i highly recommend this guitar.

  I dont know what to say about this guitar. It feels so awesome to me in the neck especially. I played this baby off a fender amp and a marshall amp in the store and let me tell you it was the best guitar i have played in a long time. I intend on buying one soon when i have the money but once i do im going to have a hard time putting it down. If you like things ranging from led zepplin to guns n roses, this is it
