QCon Pro X puts the functions of your DAW at your fingertips by providing you with nine (9) full-sized motorized faders, eight (8) rotary dual-function encoders, two (2) large backlit LCD screens, LED volume metering, a jog wheel and plenty of buttons to press. Adjust multiple volume or pan levels simultaneously. Mute or solo numerous tracks on the fly. Use the transport section to conveniently play, stop, fast forward, rewind, record, loop, zoom, punch in and punch out of your compositions. Spin the nicely sized jog wheel to scrub through tracks and address areas of special interest. Dedicated buttons also allow you to access your entire mix by banking across tracks in groups of 8 or 1 track at a time.

Control Any DAW
QCon Pro X is a powerful control surface for any DAW. Integration is most easily facilitated using DAW-specific custom modules. Simply select the module for your DAW, follow the easy install procedure, and QCon Pro X will use Mackie Control or HUI protocol to provide seamless interfacing with your DAW’s functions. Available modules include Cubase, Nuendo, Ableton Live, ProTools, Logic, Reason, Studio One, Bitwig, Samplitude and Reaper. Once QCon Pro X is linked to your DAW, it will always boot up in the proper configuration, even after being powered off.

If you have a module installed for one DAW, and want to use a different DAW, then no worries. You can still go into manual mode and select any of the other supported DAWs from a list displayed on the QCon Pro X LCD upon boot-up. Even if your DAW is not supported by a custom module, then you can still map its functions to QCon Pro X using the intuitive MIDI learn mode.

Control Plug-ins and Automation
QCon Pro X also gives you tactile control of your VST, RTAS, Direct X and AU Plugins. Dial in EQ frequencies, Q or gain with the rotary encoders. The values of different parameters are shown on the upper LCD screen. Control Virtual Instruments as well. There’s also a “FLIP” button for fader control of plug-in parameters. Automation of track and plugin parameters is also made easy with QCon Pro X. Write fader rides just like you would on any large format analog console using buttons for familiar functions like GROUP, WRITE, TOUCH, LATCH and TRIM. QCon Pro X is also scalable. Expand in groups of 8 up to 32 channels. Expansion modules will be available soon, so you can create a custom surface to fit your needs.

I'll probably be sending this unit back

      By Rodney

Comments about Icon QCon Pro X:

I got my unit yesterday and first off its built very solid. I had to update the firmware on a pc since there isn't a mac firmware available, which I found a real pain since I had to use a friend's laptop. The faders seem to be quirky at first until you start using them more but if you stop for little while they start to get quirky again until you start using them again. I don't like that and over time it may start to wear the motors out. The quirky feel of the faders is like you have to apply pressure slightly to make them move. Again not good on the motors. The LED's are not accurate in Logic X and are very slow. Monitoring audio with fast transients such as hi hat's is no good. The LED's look great but are virtually unusable for monitoring levels, even after updating to v1.11 Sometimes the LED's get stuck and I have to power down and then back on to correct this. The master LED's don't work but thats an issue the Mackie protocol. The automation is flawless and works perfectly. The transport functions good. The eq section isn't very detailed and I'm better off using the mouse. Its setup for Logic out the box but they have a Cubase overlay on the panel. Since, the unit defaults to Logic, it would've made more sense to have the panel labeled for Logic. It can be switch out with a special tool sold separately. what were they thinking? Also the faders only count up the 8 and no higher. So if you have channel 9 selected it will be labeled 1 on the icon, but it will control alll the channels of your session but im not sure if this an issue with the controller yet. Overall I will probably be sending it back. it's not worth the price tag at the moment. It should just work for the price. The LED'S not working properly is a deal breaker for me. But icon is on to something with this unit. If they work out the kinks this unit came be a real game changer. For now, I'll be better off purchasing the Console 1 channel strip by softube and the faderport by prosonus.
