Overview

The Ibanez XPT700 is a neck-thru constructed guitar that just screams metal from the first moment you see it. With a deep double-cutaways, 4-fin body shape and beveled edges, it's also comfortable to play. Chameleon finishes change colors with the light.

Two DiMarzio U.S.A made pickups provide tons of clear, powerful tone, and an Edge III bridge combined with a locking nut gives you killer dive bombing without the intonation hassles.

Sharktooth inlays and top-shelf hardware complete the look.

this guitar rocks!! i love the tone on this guitar, its body shape, its playability, and of course, the paint! for some, the playability may be a bit off, but i own another radically shaped guitar so i'm used to the feel. the one thing i dont like as much, is the locked tuners. it's kind of a hassle to unscrew things when you have a problem, but that is its only downer. If you are looking for an all around awesome guitar, buy the XPT700.

I am not impressed. Sure, It looks cool, the paint chips easy tho. Its comfortable to play. It takes a while to set the bridge and when you lock the tuners the top 2 strings are raised even higher making it impossible to get spot on with tuning. when you use the fine tuners it messes with the bridge and sends everything else out of tune. Aside from that It sounds like a beast and plays like a god. action is a bit high.

finally a new x series!!!

By viciousroadie

Comments about Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos Electric Guitar:

i picked up a xiphos (in blue) about a week ago and i absolutely love it. overall, this is a very comfortable playing axe, the neck is thin and fast, the tone (from clean tone to all out shred) is also pretty incredible. the neck thru design allows for sustain that is as amazing as the paint scheme! i have absolutely no complaints, hopefully ibanez will eventually put out more of this model in other colors like solid black or red...

the best...or is it

Comments about Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos Electric Guitar:

when i played this guitar, i was amazed yet turned off just a little bit. it has all the best features of all of ibanez's greatest guitars exept one thing, the body. the neck is very fast but not too fast. perfect. this guitar sounds great. awsome. the edge pro is sweet. but the body makes it kind of harder to play. it kind of forces awkward postions. standing and sitting. if you want a metal guitar that looks crazy and plays amazing, buy it. but if you want a guitar that plays great but its looks more "regular" or "traditional", stick with the RG series, another great series of guitar from ibanez.

best guitar ever played

Comments about Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos Electric Guitar:

this guitar is an amazing axe. id been looking for a guitar to replace my esp ex series when i saw this thing online. i have an ibanez rg that i didnt like too much, so i figured that this would be similar to it, so i never bothered to buy this. That all changed the day i played it. i picked it up at guitar center, and bought it immediately two weeks later. it has the neck of my esp, which i love dearly, and the looks of a real shredding guitar, not to mention the dimarzios sound just like active pickups, with face melting tones, but can also handle clean tones just as well. the mohogany body adds for overall sound and sustain, and the edge three bride never goes out of tune. the neck is lightning fast, the shape is comfortable both sitting and standing, plus it looks sick with the chameleon paint and sharktooth inlays. if you love a guitar that looks sick, can play diversity, and has face melting tones, then get an xpt700 today, you will not regret it

Comments about Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos Electric Guitar:

I have a U.S. custom xiphos in the red with emg 81 and 85 and its absolutely the best guitar i have ever owned. If you want to shred this guitar is the number one in my book. I have never played another guitar that had as much playability as this one.

Comments about Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos Electric Guitar:

i just got this guitar yesterday. and i have already fallen in love whit it. it is insanely sick, it looks like a real marshal metal guitar. it has a sick bridge pickup for deep chugging riffs and pinching and a sweet neck pickup for sweeps's and solo's. and the playability is sweet. the action is a tad high. but otherwise it has no problems. with the case i spent 750 on this guitar. and i have never made a better buy in my life. to any won looking for a real good metal guitar. i suggest the XPT700.

One of the best I've ever played!

By John Cooper

from Atlanta, Georgia

Comments about Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos Electric Guitar:

When I arrived at Guitar Center, I went looking around for new guitars that had come in, and I happen to spot this one. And I am so glad I did, because this guitar took me away by storm. After playing JP's music man, several top of the line PRS models, as well as a couple of S series, this guitar definitely ranks up there. But the main thing that spoke to me in this guitar wasn't exactly the body, but it was the pickups. These pickups are very expressive, and are full of character and you can just belt out on them all day. And for those concerned about the body shape, it is actually very playable. I do a lot of Shawn lane wide intervallic stretching when I play, and this guitar totally allows for that kind of playing, and I felt very comfortable playing it.

Metal

Comments about Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos Electric Guitar:

This guitar is sick. Very fast action, looks amazing, comfortable to play, and sounds amazing. Only real downer i found was the stock strings suck. Switch those out and its awesome. You can play it sitting down using the same style as a V shaped guitar (One fin between your legs) or you can simply play it like a traditional guitar. I've played multiple custom metal guitars, and this rates right up there with them for hundreds of dollars less.

speechless

Comments about Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos Electric Guitar:

this is the greatest guitar ive ever played! the neck being molded to the body is great and its slick so u move aound the fretboard quickly, the wizard 2 neck is thin and amazing, the tremolo keeps tuning no matter how hard you use the tremolo. its the most beautiful guitar ive ever seen to. the chameleon paint looks remarkable, the inverted headstock and sharktooth inlays look sick. beside the fact that it is little top heavy i have no complaints whatsoever. i love dimarzio pickups and these are the greatest dimarzios ive ever heard. i highly recomend this to everyone.

Great Guitar

By T. MUMMY

from Dayton, Ohio

Comments about Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos Electric Guitar:

Hmm so it comes down to this, the guitar itself is amazing in colour as well as the playability and smoothness, the awkwardness of the guitar is bareable, the presence that it brings while on stage makes ppl feel like they are seeing a guitar-work-of-art. however. the only real problem with this guitar is the Edge 3 tremolo, the Edge 3 tremolo is made up of metal and a cheap substance to mimick metal puposely to make the tremolo cheaper, however what i have done with mine is i have taken off the Edge 3 and replaced it with a Floyd Rose since the Edge 3 tends to break in the oddest places (i.e. by the hammer tuners and underneath the actual tremolo body itself). but beside that problem, putting the Floyd Rose on it makes this guitar perfect for metal guitarists or metal enthusiasts.
