Comments about Ibanez UEW30RWE EW Concert Ukulele:

I was very skeptical in buying my first instrument. I read that you should always look for the nut and bridge to be just right. Meaning that the strings shouldn't be high off the fret board. I thought buying this and it being shipped from the other side of the world might come needing some work done to either the nut or bridge or possible both. To my surprise this instrument came in prefect condition and needed no adjustment. The ukulele's finish is beautiful with finding only on flaw in the glaze. The tone (after you figure the tuner out)is beautiful. G's & C's have had the sweetest tone so far. This being my first ukulele I've played, I loved it. I loved this instrument so much that my first night of being it's owner I played for four plus hours. I give this ukulele five stars and recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality product with a perfect sound.

Not recommended due to heavy build sapping tone.

Comments about Ibanez UEW30RWE EW Concert Ukulele:

I own many ukes, solids and laminates, all woods incl. koa, and another Ibanez: the light colored spruce top (which is one star better than this one, because it's slightly more loud and bright). This electric Ibanez is dead. In uke terms, that means it's not loud, it does not ring, it has no sustain and it's tone is uninspiring. I believe it to be the heavy construction, use of lacquer finish (rather than satin or french polish). It's slightly better when amplified, because the amp reflects a sustain and ring. I'd upgrade it a star if one were to use it amplified exclusively (but few would). The construction is top-notch, and it appears gorgeous. You will get compliments on its looks. But the sound is simply not up to par with many other similarly priced ukes. The neck is wide and thick, like a guitar, making it less than ideal for fingering unless you have the hands of a giant. But, in the end, it looses on a dead, lifeless, ringless tone. It's a doorstop. Nothing more.

Love this uke

Comments about Ibanez UEW30RWE EW Concert Ukulele:

I love it- I wish I could pick 4.5 stars! It isn't absolutely perfect, but for the price, pretty darn near! Background - I must preface this review with the fact I am a novice uker, teaching myself the last few months. I already upgraded to this ukulele and am very pleased. I started with a Luna Hanu when I first began my obsession and shortly realized I wanted a true concert. I reviewed dozens of reviews, weighing my budget against the pros and cons. After returning my first concert (another Luna, which was gorgeous, but had many flaws and didn't sound like the price), I ordered this from Guitar Center. The uke - I do not even pretend to be an instrument expert, but I can tell you it is decently made, the finish is not smooth as glass out of the box, and there are some rough fret wire edges. However, the overall product is nicer than many I have held, feels solid, looks gorgeous and sounds clear and pleasant. The perfect sound for playing in my home and even better plugging it into a little amp I have. And the onboard tuner is AWESOME, and this little uke hold tune much better than my first couple ukes.
