Overview

The Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer is a reissue that's just like the original in so many ways. Same factory, same components, same housing, same famous seasick-green paint, and the same crankin' overdrive that made the original one of the all-time classic pedals. Guitar Player called it the best. Plug it in. Crank it up. You'll hear what all the fuss is about. Tone, drive, and level controls.

This pedal is one of the best overdrives you can get for under $100. Not only does it get the best blues tone out there, but it also works great as a boost and it is versitile enough for all types of music. Through my Fender tube amp, this pedal can make my Stratocaster sustain for days. The pedal is so easy to use and it is simple to find the sound that you want without having to mess with the knobs for a long time. The knobs are recessed too, so they don't get bumped around easily. This overdrive does everything I would want it to do, and it has not let me down yet. I strongly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a great sounding overdrive without spending a lot of cash

I've never understood why people are so crazy about the TS-9, to me it sounds really muddy at just about any level. I would consider a mod, but what's the point? There are better ODs out there for the same price. Obviously, lots of of people get a tone they like from this pedal, but I would say try it first, don't just buy it on reputation alone.

Comments about Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer Effects Pedal:

This pedal is the perfect boost/low gain drive pedal. Pairing it with the vox ac 15 sounds amazing. One problem though, the pedal broke within 4 weeks. Went to guitar center to replace it though. They replaced it quickly. No questions asked

Comments about Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer Effects Pedal:

I've only had this pedal for a week and it's given me everything I needed. You can use it as a boost or drive. Perfect for classic rock, a clean boost, a distorted boost, and metal. It's the perfect all in one pedal

It's what is should be!

Comments about Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer Effects Pedal:

I'm not a SRV-type player. I just needed a touch of classic grit and this does the job perfectly. Generally, I run my telecaster through a clean fender channel and occasionally need a bit of boost and gain to bring the guitar forward during breaks. Easy to use, quiet, and is a perfect match with my blues junior. The only pedal I need. Buy it!

Comments about Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer Effects Pedal:

this pedal is top notch. i use it for what it is capable of doing with tone before you start with the distortion. this pedal will give youre guitar that phat tube sound you want from your little 25w amp. maybe when im not broke ill be using my own tube amp instead of the schools, but until then, at least i got my ts9

Great, but only after modification !

By

from Mesa Az

Comments about Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer Effects Pedal:

I own the TS808 (original) and now one of these... The distortion on the ts9 is sort of shrill, and thin sounding until you have it modified to the original opamp chip in the TS808. Now the pedal, sounds fantastic, guy named jon Novembri at valvefx did it for me. Now I've got the tone of the original ts808, but with all of the adjustable distortion settings of the TS9. He did the mod for $35, and its totally worth it!

If you love the blues, this pedal is a necessity

By

from Shell Lake, WI

Comments about Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer Effects Pedal:

This pedal is literally a legend within the blues community. Even Stevie Ray (who was famously against using anything besides just his strats and tube amps) had this as his only pedal. If you have a peavey, fender, or mesa-boogie amplifier, running this through your pre-amp sounds absolutely amazing. I, like many other blues guitarists, consider myself well-versed in distortion pedals- and I have yet to find even a botique pedal that rivals the TS-9 or TS-808. This is the part of the review where I am supposed to add some little "however" tidbit. But I cant think of one. This pedal has no hum no matter what order it is on your board, it can be used in a variety of different ways (from clean boost, to mild jazzy distortion, to full bore hot tubes) not to mention the wide tonal range. Lastly it is durable- it was meant to be taken down to the crossroads and back more than a few times.
