I have had this bass for about two years now, and its falling to peices. The Strap Button ripped out, stripping the wood of the thread. Also the knobs are all scratchy and hardly do much, you will always have them turned up all the way. The 'Bass Boost' Broke, it doesn't work, turn it all the way up or down makes absolutely no difference, replace the battery, get the same results. The Bass was amazing, but it has gone downhill ever since i purchased it. The Pickups, are 2 hum bucking pickups with these six little painted dots. The paint is gone, and they are rusting. It looks terrible. The thing is easy to chip, shows all finger prints, and dust. The back pickups sound TERRIBLE!!!!!! they have extreme treble, you will only use the front ones. The bass also sounds terrible with a pick. Don't waste your money on this bass, it just DOES NOT last. I thought it was good too, but i wish some one would have told me this BEFORE i bought it.

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I was supprised when I saw this bass. I always liked the feel of Ibanez basses and it just slips right into your hands as you hold it. Sound is phenominal! Its looks great too (White with black trim). It feels sort of like a Fender Precision bass, which is what Im playing now. I was also supprised when I saw the price. Good price, great sound, good quality.

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I have owned this bass for a few months now and I can't put it down! After a gig, I get a lot of complements on the look and sound. I have it plugged into an ampeg half stalk and the sound just cut through the guitars!

This bass is amazing. It is not only a beautiful looking bass, it plays amazing. I have had it for about a month now and I love it. The active pick ups make it louder than any other. It's a truly awesome bass for the price.

WOW! An amazing instrument...

By Soundtrack to Schitzophrenia

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I didn't have a lot of money when I wanted to purchase a bass. I knew from previous experiences that "you get what you pay for." So I was somewhat hesitant when I wanted to buy an instrument for around $300. After careful research and MANY sessions of going into the store and playing basses from Squier, Jackson, Peavy, Washburn, Epiphone and Ibanez...truely the winner HANDS DOWN was Ibanez. The feel of the instrument is VERY COZY and light! The neck is not too thin and not too thick. The body is very seductive (I got white on black) and solid to the core. Sound is extremely inmportant. And let me tell you the PICKUPS are FANTASTIC! They are active and deliver on warm lows, crisp highs and have a concussive punch that bassist crave without takinbg away from the tone, which is outstanding. Change the strings IMMEDIATELY! Once you get a fresh set of strings (I use Dean/Markley Medium Blue Steel)this bass really shines! A great buy! Alotta bass for a low price! BUY IT! You will not be sorry!

Best Out There

By Cody Grey

from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

This is the second bass I've ever owned in my so far short career as a musician. I was in Guitar Center Pittsburgh when I saw this beauty. I picks her up and taht was where the love started. She was light, and I like that. The second thing I noticed was that the neck felt just like the Fender Jazz Bass i played at my buddy's house. When I started playing, I was sold. this thing has so much growl and clarity at the same time, it was amazing. I toyed with the knobs for a bit and I dialed in all kinds of new tones without even touching the amp. I bought it and vurrently play it through a FIRST ACT AMP! It even sound great through that! Buy this bass, don't hesitate.

Search no further

By Unix/bassist guy

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

This bass has everything. First found this bass online, finally was able to play it in a store, months of torture...now i own it. I am an amature at very best. For me this bass has everything im going to need for a long time to come. Every sound played either intentionally or unintentionally is picked up in the clearest detail. This thing is sweet. The neck invites your fingers to slide up and down the fretboard with the utmost ease. Fretboard allows noobs to execute hammerons and pulloffs with no trouble at all, due to small in width [compared to my P Bass]. Simply put, this bass dominates. Ibanez hit the nail on the head with this guitar. If your looking for an upgrade, search no further.

Great Sound and Precision for the price

By albatross07

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

Have had the bass for 2 months now and I no complaints. The sound is clear and it adds a nice heavy overtone. The double humbuckers sound really good and the neck is super fast. I looked at a bunch of cheapo basses and this blew me away with the quality that you get for the price. Good looking, good sounding, great value.

overall awesome bass

By Atreyufan6

from Yardley, PA

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

i bought this bass about a month ago. overall it has a thick tone perfect for anything from blues to metalcore. the neck is perfect and plays very fast considering it is about the size of a fender j bass neck. the controls are so good i barely even have to touch my amp. i have recorded with it and my band is a metalcore band so i need plenty of low end and this bass has it not to mention it has a snappy high end perfect for slap bass. this bass is by far one of the best ibanez basses ever built.

Great upgrade

By Lance Justus

from Locust Grove, Georgia

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

When I first saw this bass on the internet, and the price, I knew I had to get it. I went to guitar center and tried it out, I fell in love with it instantly. It's great for shows. It's such an upgrade from my fender squire, theres no comparison. The active dual pick-ups make it twice as loud as my squire on the same amp. This is definitly a great bass, Ibanez makes another great quality guitar. Nothing wrong with it at all.

Impressed

By noobassist

from Tuckerman, AR

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I've only been playing bass for about 2 years, but after the first year with a $199 Dean starter kit, I figured it was time to upgrade. I had my heart set on a Standard P-Bass. So I shuffled on down to the local GC, plopped myself down on the first available bench, plugged in that beast of a P-Bass, and found myself . . . relatively disappointed. It just didn't have as much tonal control as I wanted. I played around with that P-Bass for the better part of an hour, and it just didn't feel right. So I started looking around, found this bass, and thought it was beautiful in it's simplicity. Started playing it and found that it is just downright comfortable to play. The thumb rests on the pickups are really nice, the stock strings are pretty nice. The Low/High adjusters are REALLY nice. So I brought that sucker home. Been about a year now, and I still love it, have had no major problems with it so far (The battery for the active electronics goes pretty fast if you leave it plugged in to the amp). The stock strings are good, but I like Ernie Ball Power Slinky's, got that nice punchy sound to them. And talk about versatility, this thing plays it all. I can go from Metallica to The Beatles with just a couple little adjustments and it sounds GREAT. If you want a bass that is built to last, and you don't have a huge budget, look no further.

Great Value for Money!!!

By Emmit

from Ralegih, NC

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I have been playing for about a year now, but have really been taken in with learning my favorite songs. I saved for like 2 years for my first bass, and it was worth it. I had a little problem with changing the battery, the plate got stuck and i had to pry it out, and the neck did not hold up at all when the weather changed, but on the good side, this bass is extremely versatile - low and growly but high enough to make regular use of all 24 frets. After working over the summer I am now looking to buy a second bass, a Rickenbacker 4001 if I can find a good one, so I can get those 60's and 70's era hard rock and proggy sounds, but I suspect I will keep coming back to this bass if a rick cant get the low notes I might need or if I need a Drop-D backup bass.

The way of kicking and punching

By Nate

from Cedar Rapids, IA

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I bought the SRX4EX1 from my area Guitar Center, but I don't see that model in this site. Therefore I'm writing my review under the SRX2EX1 page. They're similar enough. The SRX is fantastic and I was pining after one for months before I came by the $ for one. The 1st point in its favor is its comfort and speed. I feel that I can get to any fret in a flash with the thin neck. The other selling point is the tone. Most Ibanez Soundgears come with a bass boost knob that adds extra rumble. Plug it into a Gallien Krueger amp, and you'll get a thick and clean punch from your bass. Some differences between the 2EX1 and the 4EX1: The 4EX1 has a set neck and active pickups. The 2EX1 may be a little snappier in its upper range. Also, the 4EX1 has cosmetic differences such as a flat black finish, black hardware, and a stylin' slash mark at the 12th fret. I don't recommend the SRX line for slapping, but that may not be your style anyway. This bass is made for rawk and metal.

Bang for your Buck

By musicfreak1119

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I have played music all of my life. During my experience as a musician I have played a lot of bass guitars in my time. I had to play this bass only five minutes before making my decision. I haven't been sorry for a minute for picking up this instrument. Playability, sound, quality, and value are understatements.

The bass of the gods

By SAW

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

When it comes to chooseing a bass I am very picky. I want it to play fast, look good, and sound amazing. This baby does it all. I was walkin into guitar center near christmas and i saw this standing. I played it and it was instant love. What blew my mind was the price. Not only did this bass improve the bands sound but the ladies that come see our show tell me how sexy it looks with the white body with the black trim. So fellas if u want a good price bass, has the bass power that you not only hear but feel when u play, and looks and plays amazing this is what you want. i was not dissapointed and neither will you..

Good for the price

By Fendanez

from Tempe, AZ

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I wanted a cheap-ish bass for recording in with my guitar tracks. This has some nice tone considering the price and plays reasonably well. Mine wasn't set up too well from the factory and this particular model is VERY sensitive to climate changes, going from perfectly playable to completely unplayable due to a couple days of rain. Also, despite the 4 knobs, you're dealing with a 2 band EQ, alongside pickup blend and volume knobs. It's a great bass for the price, but just keep in mind that you do make sacrifices. Really the only thing that BOTHERS me with it are the frets themselves, they just feel cheap.

ULTIMATE HARD ROCK BASS!!!!!!

By Axe

from Vista, California

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

This bass is meant for hard rock because of the two humbuckers, its appearance, and its low growl of a tone. This bass has excellent playibility and the tone controls offer great versatility. If you want to buy a inexpensive bass that plays like basses that are way more expensive then buy this one!!!!!This is going to be my next bass!!!!!

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

This is Paul McCartney. This bass is the most amazing bass I've ever played. I wish I had known about this bass earlier when I was with Ringo, John, and George. I could have really changed the sound of the group. I used this on my new album Memory Almost Full which is in stores now. Hope you enjoy this bass guitar.
