Cons

    Best Uses

Comments about Ibanez SRC6 Crossover 6-String Electric Bass:

      Yummy stuff
Short scale length 30", those high B and E strings are welcome, 24 usable frets

GREAT neck and fretboard, play melodies and harmonies on it like a tenor saxophone

Light, not bulky, ideal for when you don't want to schlep a big 34" scale bass and for gigs with cramped stages

Well-constructed, superb satin-finished unpainted woodwork, attractive black-chrome hardware and tight abalone inlays

Headstock w/Mosrite-style bend, medium-size tuners, fretwork, overall finish, splendid craftsmanship, neck profile, action, EMG pickups, bridge design

Blah but can live with it
Active EQ works fine, "Fear of battery failure at inopportune time," 'would prefer passive tone controls

10.8 mm string spacing is tight for finger-plucking, best to use a pick, BUT (see below)

      Truly Yucky Stuff
Battery 9V mount has old 2-hair-thin-wires double-snap mount a la "designed to break and fail" philosophy, THIS IS BAD ENGINEERING for 2016

Volume and Blend knobs immediately adjacent to bridge pickup are less than 3/4" from pickup, interfering with right hand when pick is used, THIS IS BAD DESIGN; unnecessary and avoidable, since space exists for them to be sited further toward the strap-button end of right lower bout

Body is too "small" for this average-sized player to comfortably play seated and left forearm does not rest naturally seated or standing. Venerable 1960s Gibson SG, Fender VI and Mosrite solidbody short-scale bases have this AND knobs placement RIGHT

You'd think Ibanez would have learned knobs-location from the best short-scale bass makers in the last 50 years and about modern, clip-less battery boxes (e.g. Carvin/Kiesel)?

Comments about Ibanez SRC6 Crossover 6-String Electric Bass:

Bought this used from Guitar Center, and was immediately taken by this new brush to paint with. After playing around, mimicking the Cure, and some old surf riffs, it was found as something to grab when writing, looping, or just allowing the vibe to flow. I did replace the volume/tone knobs with black ones that then matched the abalone inlays. I had no negative issues with it. Tuning was great, neck was just right. No dead spots. I am a pretty fat guy and was even fatter when I owned it, no issues. I did sell it last year as I needed to lessen my collection which had gotten ridiculous for a man who hasn't gigged in almost 20 years.
