Great out of box quality

By Brian

Comments about Ibanez SR705 5-String Electric Bass Guitar:

This thing arrived in a box ready to play! Action is awesome - no fret buzz, easy to play. Even came with a battery! (Tested real good on my battery tester, though I'll switch it out with a duracell before I play on stage with it) Sounds great through my SVT. The mid frequency switch doesn't change the sound as dramatically as I thought it might, but, there is a difference. If you can't find the sound you want with this guitar, you're doin' it wrong! I'm real impressed with the Bartolini pickups, the finish, and the overall quality. Great low tones as well as high. I'd rate it higher than 5 stars if I could. Buy it. You won't regret it.

Almost a year later update

By Brian

from Manor, PA

Comments about Ibanez SR705 5-String Electric Bass Guitar:

I'm still in love with this bass. My comment about the mid-frequency switch needs updated, though. The mid-freq knob was at (or close to) zero when I played with it. The closer to +10 or -10 that the knob is, the more noticeable the mid-freq switch works. I've had no quality issues with this bass after 11 months. In my first review, I stated that it sounds great through my SVT, (what doesn't?) It also sounded great through my friends cheapo practice amp. I could have mic'd it and played on stage with it. I still stand by my comment - If you can't find the sound you want, you're doin' it wrong!

Excellent

Comments about Ibanez SR705 5-String Electric Bass Guitar:

I purchased this bass about in january, i own an ibanez sr300, and for being a cheap price i loved it, i needed another bass, a 5 string for my band and after looking at all of them saw this one, at first i was hesitant about ordering online, but figuring how much i liked my other ibanez i figured id try this one. It arrived 4 days later and i only used standard shipping. As for the bass the mid switch is quite usefull and comes in handy, the bartolini pickups sound wonderful, as said in another reveiw if you cant get a good sound your doing it wrong. Also the picture of it on guitar center doesnt do the guitar justice, the bass looks much better in real life, the paint job is similar but much more detailed and better looking in real life. It holds a tune quite well. It came with elixer strings, never used before but they have a gel coating around the outside and are wonderful. I play in a band, we play hard rock, metal and i play in school band, and i play at church, and it works wonderful for all of those.
