This bass is so much better looking in person than the photo. The beautiful grain of the wood is obvious in person, and the amber color is truly that, not yellow, and not orange, and striking to the eye. The bubinga neck is also a bit unique for an instrument in this price range. Naturally, Ibanez SR basses with Bartolini pick ups always sound great, and the necks are super thin for those with smaller hands who can't quite stretch their fingers 4 frets length. The bass is one of the lightest ones sold anywhere. For the price, you get very good playability, lightweight comfort, striking looks, and a company with a good rep. Can't imagine anything better at this price point.

I don't do reviews...but, ohh-wee!

Comments about Ibanez SR700 Bass Guitar:

I never give reviews but not only is this one of the best basses I've ever purchased, its one of the best products. I had to comment! I sat in GC for 6 hours, tried everything and this last b/c I always thought Ibanez was just for metal bands. WRONG! Ran through an Ampeg B115, it sounded fabulous. Ended up leaving with both. Nothing else could touch it. Out the box the set up was perfect. The action is incredible. With its light weight, thin neck and low strings (Elixir), you'll play faster and more precise. By sight it appears smaller and out of scale, but its not! Currently have a Fender Jazz 5, this is a very different bass, but can run with it and is better in many ways (i.e. slap/pop, light weight). I even liked the plug input on front of the body. Being picky: slight buzz on E string, but raised it a bit; and slightly punchy tone, but good Amp takes care of that. Paid for the great finish (SR500 only differs by finish, otherwise the same). Great value. Play and you'll buy.

Plays Sweet

By Steve

Comments about Ibanez SR700 Bass Guitar:

I bought this bass almost three years ago. The neck is fast and not a bit thick. Plays and feels like a Fender Strat. I thought it was a short scale but it's not. The different tones you get by tweaking the EQ are fantastic. The weight is perfectly distributed and comfortable to play. Players if your looking for a nice bass that's easy to play and dosen't cost alot of money look into this one. And I'll add that the look and style of this bass is unique and quite beautiful.

AWESOME BASS

By Jeff Bjork

from El Cajon , Ca

Comments about Ibanez SR700 Bass Guitar:

I purchased this bass 2 years ago and still love playing it. The neck is thin which makes playing easy on your fingers. The color in person is so much better than the picture that you see. It's more of a wood tone than yellow, so the picture does not do it justice at all. It has great sounds and tones and stays in tune for a long time. My other bass guitars I have to tune every time I pick them up, not this one. I would recomend this bass big time. You will not regret it one bit..

SR700

By LW

Comments about Ibanez SR700 Bass Guitar:

Have enjoyed owning and playing this bass. It has a thin neck and is easier to play than a Jazz bass. Active pickups that you can EQ to get the sound you want for whatever type of music. Can get from slap to booming with little problem. Very light, doesn't kill you back after a four hour set. Beautiful finish that holds up especially if one tends to sweat alot. Good buy I'm very happy with it.

Great bass for the right player

By Colin Webb

from Warner Robins, GA

Comments about Ibanez SR700 Bass Guitar:

Unfortunately, that player is not me. I will start with the pros of this bass (and they are many): Tuning pegs hold tune well, Action is low but easily adjustable, the EQ is one of the easiest units I have ever used. Tones are incredibly versatile and easy to dial in on the fly. The pups provide a very clear, bright sound or a deep, deep bass. The only problem with the tone is that high treble can sound tinny on certain amps. The ONLY con I can find is the neck, but it's a doozy. If you have small hands AND like a skinny neck, this neck would still feel somewhat cramped. the string spacing is guitar-like and feels unnatural after coming off of a Fender or Epi. One can get used to it, and it is a great versatile bass for a smaller-handed player, but a larger player should look a little farther for a great sound.

awesome bass

By Jeremy

from Carmel, Indiana

Comments about Ibanez SR700 Bass Guitar:

This bass is amazing, everything about it screams craftmanship. The neck is a perfect width and the body is also a perfect size. The active pickups are also great, your tone can be easily changed without even changing the settings on your amp. I have owned this bass for about half a month so far and its great, it looks very reliable and well made. Its super simple to change the settings on the bass to fit you. The action is so easy to raise and lower it, it literally takes 10 seconds. Ibanez did a very nice job on this bass, it looks and feels natural when you play it, i highly recomend this bass to everyone no matter what genre of music you play.

S-M-O-O-T-H!!

Comments about Ibanez SR700 Bass Guitar:

Wow! I own an Ibanez SR300, purchased this model last Fall. I didn't want to spend alot of $$ on a bass at that time, as I was new to bass-playing and wasn't sure it I would stick with it. (Overall I like the SR300) I went to GC and tried the 700 model today, ..this bass is SO slick! I don't own this model, but am thinking of upgrading. Makes you want to play all day!! Give the 700 a try, the extra $$ is worth it.
