This is my second Ibanez bass with my first being an SR505. I liked that so I knew I'd like this. I own many basses and this one is nearing the top of my list. The ultra-thin neck is my favorite feature as my hands aren't enormous. Its also able to be set up with incredibly low action, so couple that with the amazing neck and this thing almost plays itself. Its also dead quiet when plugged in. I can have every dial on the guitar and rig at 11 and not one bit of noise. Its the only bass I've ever owned I can say that about. Even my 505 which has the same electronics makes some noise. The fit and finish is excellent and overall a very comfortable bass to play. I only play as a hobby although have been playing 40 years and this one's a keeper.
I just bought this bass recently and I absolutely love it! The neck is super fast, the sound is clean, sustain is excellent, the weight isn't going to give you back problems playing long sessions. As stated in another review, the picture just does not do justice to the color of this bass. I had ignored this bass so many times just because I didn't care for how it looked in pictures. I stopped by my local GC one night to pick-up a new strap for my J Bass and decided to check out what they had in stock that was lighter. When I saw this bass, I was floored by the way that it looked. Then I played it! I bought it the very next day. I would highly recommend this bass to anyone looking for a very nice bass with the budget to afford this.
I've only had this bass 1 week but am happy with my choice. A very light, great looking piece. The setup is good right out of the box. Very comfortable player. The only change I may make is to a medium gauge string. It has all the tones I could ask for from higher slap/pick style to deep rich lows. The narrow neck is a real plus to me.
This bass is incredible. it is the nicest bass i have ever seen. looks so must nicer in person. the neck and body are thin so you can play faster. and with the active pickups, it gives you control over your sound. Amazing bass and its worth the money!
First, don't let the picture sway your decision ... this bass is gorgeous! The tiger-stripe amber finish is absolutely beautiful. I was hesitant about the amber finish, but after reading other reviews, I decided to take a chance on it. Opened the box, and was BLOWN AWAY by the finish! Next, the neck is extremely thin and fast. The Jatoba/Bubinga woods are gorgeous and doesn't have that glossy, slick finish ... more of a satin type finish and doesn't collect the sweat/dirt from your palms like the others. My stubby little fingers are at home on this neck. Sound-wise, I love the controls and the way I can tailor-make my personal sound -- I am partial to that hollow, "piano-sound" and I can get that exact sound on this bass, as opposed to the Fender J-bass I was playing, which is limited as far as sound. The Elixir strings that it comes stock with are awesome .. I am a dedicated DR string man, but after playing these babies, I am sold on them!! I just got this bass a few days ago and still experimenting with it, but after 2 gigs with it, I LOVE THIS BASS!! Definitely recommend this bass to anyone!!

Wow! I own an Ibanez SR300, purchased this model last Fall. I didn't want to spend alot of $$ on a bass at that time, as I was new to bass-playing and wasn't sure it I would stick with it. (Overall I like the SR300) I went to GC and tried the 700 model today, ..this bass is SO slick! I don't own this model, but am thinking of upgrading. Makes you want to play all day!! Give the 700 a try, the extra $$ is worth it.
This bass is amazing, everything about it screams craftmanship. The neck is a perfect width and the body is also a perfect size. The active pickups are also great, your tone can be easily changed without even changing the settings on your amp. I have owned this bass for about half a month so far and its great, it looks very reliable and well made. Its super simple to change the settings on the bass to fit you. The action is so easy to raise and lower it, it literally takes 10 seconds. Ibanez did a very nice job on this bass, it looks and feels natural when you play it, i highly recomend this bass to everyone no matter what genre of music you play.
I purchased this bass 2 years ago and still love playing it. The neck is thin which makes playing easy on your fingers. The color in person is so much better than the picture that you see. It's more of a wood tone than yellow, so the picture does not do it justice at all. It has great sounds and tones and stays in tune for a long time. My other bass guitars I have to tune every time I pick them up, not this one. I would recomend this bass big time. You will not regret it one bit..
Unfortunately, that player is not me. I will start with the pros of this bass (and they are many): Tuning pegs hold tune well, Action is low but easily adjustable, the EQ is one of the easiest units I have ever used. Tones are incredibly versatile and easy to dial in on the fly. The pups provide a very clear, bright sound or a deep, deep bass. The only problem with the tone is that high treble can sound tinny on certain amps. The ONLY con I can find is the neck, but it's a doozy. If you have small hands AND like a skinny neck, this neck would still feel somewhat cramped. the string spacing is guitar-like and feels unnatural after coming off of a Fender or Epi. One can get used to it, and it is a great versatile bass for a smaller-handed player, but a larger player should look a little farther for a great sound.
