For 25 years the SR has given bass players a modern alternative. As its popularity has expanded, the iconic series continues to excite with its smooth, fast neck, lightweight body and perfectly matched electronics.
The SR656 is a handsome 6-string bass designed with the working musician in mind. At the heart of this bass is an Ash body, chosen for its bright, articulate tone and long sustain. The SR656 sports a 5-pc Jatoba/Bubinga SR6 neck and a Rosewood fretboard, embedded with elegant Abalone oval inlays. An Accu-cast B306 bridge provides excellent string vibration transfer and precise intonation.
For electronics, the SR656 features Nordstrand CND pickups in a classic P/J combination, a versatile setup almost indispensable for the working musician. Specifically designed for Ibanez, these passive pickups deliver a very present tone that easily punches through any mix. Equalization controls include a 3-band Active EQ with a bypass switch for precise tone management.

Comments about Ibanez SR656 6-String Electric Bass Guitar:
Used in Church Setting. Neck is super fast. Minimal Buzz on 2nd String. Nothing a little adjustment didn't fix
From good Lows to wailing highs if needed, this bass does it all. Strings are decent, but will swap out soon. Can't wait. The mid adjuster switch does what you would expect. Good sustain for a bolt on. Talk about playing fun!! If you like looking at natural wood, without that lacquered color finish, then this is it. My opinion.
Only one bad thing. This was my second one ordered, as the first had a problem with the preamp. Too much humming and the aforementioned mid adjuster switch did nothing. Tech guy at G.C was honest in the assessment and recommendation. Glad that this seemed to be a one off. Finish and look of wood was similar to the first and my temporary set back was rewarded with a quality instrument. Only deserved half a star off for the few issues stated. Didn't have that option.
