Decent quality-High price!

By Michael

from NEPA

Comments about Ibanez SR5006E Prestige 6-String Bass Guitar:

I haven't played an Ibanez for about 25 years. I was drawn to the SR5006E for several reasons; It seemed like a decent built, the bartolinis gave me confidence in the sound quality and the bridge really intrigued me. Ibanez really showed the competition how to offer an expensive instrument; Include a Beefy case with the purchase! (I cant believe a lot of manufacturers don't include a case for higher priced instruments!!). The bass was just as I had expected-a pleasure to look at, a pleasure to play and a pleasure to hear. It took a little bit of time (around 2 hours) for me to really bond with it. Once I did, I was inspired to play things that I normally wouldn't. If it were not for the ridiculous price, I would give it 5 stars and recommend it to anyone interested. Because of the price however, I would have to recommend anyone interested to also check out the Carvin Custom Shop. I also play Carvin 6 string basses and the overall quality for the Carvins are much better and for a much better price. Comparing the SR5006 to the Carvin LB76, I would expect the Ibanez to price around 1200.00. You can get a custom Carvin 6 for under 2k-and believe me-they play like a dream!! I love the Ibanez and am glad that I got it (or curiosity would have drove me nuts!) But there are better for cheaper. Incidentally-I paid 400.00 less for a used Warrior 6-string. The Ibanez doesn't compare. Bottom line-Surprisingly great bass but WAY too expensive.

INCREDIBLE BASS !!!

By Gregg Henderson

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Ibanez SR5006E Prestige 6-String Bass Guitar:

I've had my eye on the SR5006 for a while. As soon as I put this in my hands words like; refinement, smooth, flawless, beautiful came to mind. This bass is incredibly smooth, so easy to play, especially for a six string. Quality is top level, right with or exceeding more expensive makes & models. The sound is incredible. A very wide variety of tones are possible. Very clear and HUGE sounding. It can sound mean or subtle and I tell you what the thing rings . . and rings. Sustain is phenomenal. The icing on the cake is it's appearance. Unlike anything else out in the market. The way Ibanez combined Wenge & Mahogany looks so cool, so high level. Everyone who sees it for the time says the same thing "Whoa, what is that? It is beautiful" Yes, the price is high but I've compared this Prestige against other makes in the same or higher price range and blows some of them away and runs right with others. Again, looks like nothing else out there. Too many basses out there looking like boat oars with chrome and pick guards. If your shopping for a bass in this price range you undoubtedly have to at least try one. Or find a used one.

Amazing

By Shelby

from San Antonio, TX

Comments about Ibanez SR5006E Prestige 6-String Bass Guitar:

I went to guitar center today to mess around with some basses and see what I liked and this immediately caught my eye. The layout, presentation and everything was just amazing and just looked so much fun to play. And it is! It's spectacular. As soon as I plugged it in, it had great sound and no random buzzing on the strings or anything like that. I don't think there was anything bad I could say about this bass. I mean it was the best six string I've played. The fret board was a reasonable size and easy to maneuver my fingers about. The body was admirable and not too overwhelmingly large or anything of that sort. And plus it's a great and reliable brand! I mean Ibanez really knows how to make wonderful basses. I really love this bass and if I had the money, it be in my home in a heartbeat.
