For the money, this is an excellently playable bass. Sound is great for a bass in this price range and balance is good. I had an issue with some "fret buzz" on this fretless model however... the fret markers are inlays and were not even with the fingerboard when I initially picked up the bass. GC worked fabulously with me and had a tech plane the fingerboard and adjust it to remove the "buzz" and now it truly feels like the fretless instrument I expected. Kudos to the local Guitar Center for taking charge and fixing the instrument and the to the tech for doing a wonderful job. It certainly saved what could have been a very unfortunate incident. 4 stars to Ibanez for an instrument that was almost perfect for what I needed. 5 stars to GC for righting what was wrong.
I bought this back on my birthday...I went to guitar center I was playing around with some basses then I pick up this beauty not to flash looks expensive...I played it and i feel in love with how it felt. The strings was not to low to the fret board and not to high. The neck was small enough so I wouldn't struggle going into 12 frets and higher on the neck. Pre amp has alot of versitality to it. If I want to make a quick tweek to my sound its right there easy to use. For a fretless it sounds like a regular fretted bass. This thing is amazing and good for the price. The fun thing I didnt know it was fretless until a friend of mine told me lol. Last thing this bass is very light weight. I carried a few bass b4 and wear some while playing and they would feel heavy but not this bass its light weight and have a pre amp of a heavy duty bass......LOVE IT NO PROBLEM SO FAR
