Awesome bass

from QC, IL

Comments about Ibanez SR305 5-String Bass Guitar:

I have played them ALL and I would put this bass up against any bass out there. I know, I hear "You havent played a feder P, jass, Tobias, warwick, alembec, ect!" And YES, I have and own most of the noted basses as I am a "collector". (Just ask my wife...) However yes, p bass, m tobais, warwick all are nice and play n feel amazing. BUT, for the price I LOVE my Ibanez 305 and 306 basses. They are light, GREAT sound, good balance when strapped on my shoulder, and I LOVE the neck on Ibanez basses. They are SOOOO smooth, play so fast, the fretboard is super quick and "small" enough to shift on the low B from 1 to 24 even on a 6 string. If your looking for a high-end playing bass with a great rep and leader in the industry on a budget; Ibanez IS THE bass to buy. I have owned 4 and have not been disapointed yet.

More than I expected for the price

Comments about Ibanez SR305 5-String Bass Guitar:

I bought this Bass a few weeks ago based in part on the reviews listed here. I am extremely pleased with the guitar. I am quite particular when choosing my instruments and have been away from the Bass for some time while focusing on expanding my skills on the electric and box guitars. When I played this Bass in the store I knew I would use it for years to come. The weight is awesome, the sound variations when hooked directly to the tube amp are much more than I expected and the action is fast, accurate and actually relaxing on the hand for a 5 string neck. I would recommend this Bass to anyone looking for a moderate priced unit, especially when purchasing from Guitar Center.

Comments about Ibanez SR305 5-String Bass Guitar:

For the price a good quality bass. Had to adjust the neck some to getb rid of some fret buzz but other than that came right out of the box ready to play. Fast neck, very good feel. For this price a good quality bass for jammin, practice and even playing gigs, is a no brainer.

Better than $1000 basses

Comments about Ibanez SR305 5-String Bass Guitar:

I've had this bass for around 3 years and it is still as perfect as the day I took it out of the packaging. Let me start by saying that this bass may have the thinnest neck I have ever played on. Perfect for any size hands. And the range of tones you can get on this thing is insane! From what I've found this bass plays perfectly in all settings (rock bass, slap bass, jazz etc.). One more thing I have to say is this may be the most durable bass I've seen. This thing can take a beating! Mine has been knocked over, stepped on, nearly run over, and about everything you can imagine and the only thing that breaks is the occasional string. I have tried many other basses that are double or even triple the price of this machine and I always return to my ibanez. This is a great bass and couldn't be better for the price.

Great tone and playability

By Richard Baskerville

from Bartlett IL

Comments about Ibanez SR305 5-String Bass Guitar:

I was going into my local guitar center to look at 5 strings for a few months. Out of all of them that I played this one had the best feel to it. I love how slim the neck is. For someone with smaller hands like my self it is great to have a neck that is the width of a 4 string, and where the strings are closer together. I have only owned mine for a few days but it is better then any Fender Bass I have ever played.

Good bass for beginners-intermediate good price!

Comments about Ibanez SR305 5-String Bass Guitar:

I purchased this bass in April 2012 and it's served me well ever since. It has a great tone and is good for any style be it slap, pick, or finger picking. It sounds good for any genre and the neck is thin which helps when shredding, it also is VERY lightweight and it has a killer look. My only complaint is when I purchased it the bass had a huge amount of fret buzz on the 5th string, but after a quick neck adjustment the problem was solved. If your starting out at bass and you want a good bass for a low price this will deliver and then some. 4 stars

Very Nice Bass at Very Nice Price

By JustAStrummer

Comments about Ibanez SR305 5-String Bass Guitar:

Overall this is an awesome bass for beginners or anyone that wants a 5-string without a lot of investment.
5-strings and a fast (relatively thin) neck. Finger-slap feature works reasonably well but takes a little amp adjustment too.
Looks and feels well made. Did not require any set up when it arrived.
This is a very nice bass guitar for the price. Would be interested to hear it next to the 405, which I think has upgraded pickups, but the standard Ibanez pickups are good.

Underestimated Instrument

By Jordan Morrow

from Michigan

Comments about Ibanez SR305 5-String Bass Guitar:

I played the Ibanez SR305 a couple times at guitar center before buying it the look (Iron pewter) and the finger/slap knobs and the neck mad eme fall for it. i was worried about all the bad reviews but I was so excited to get my first 5 string bass even though when I first started playing i thought it was stupid, until I started getting into playing harder stuff (Trivium, Korn, Cradle of Filth, Etc.) and found out i need a 5 string to play most of my favorite bands. Then my guitarist got a 7 string ibanez and i knew by then i needed it to write our music. anyways i got it for Christmas 2 years ago and when it looked more beautiful then it did when i was at guitar center. The neck is the best! you couldn't ask for a thinner, more smoothing, comfortable neck!! I can play faster and better on this bass then my Epiphone Korean Flying V. I love It! This bass rocks my world. after messing with it i decided to stay on the slap sound because i like to play and write with a more warm and smooth sound, Doing so My highs where cut down a lot. I couldn't even hear them over the drums and guitar. and if i turned the treble boost too high it gave it the fieldy sound *Which i love because i play a lot of korn and he is a big influence to me* But when i wanted to play other bands or write my own suff i didnt want the sound. So i bought the GEB-7 equalizer pedal to equal it all out and after doing that it sounds like a prestige!! It has traveled since I opened it from the bock and I've even fell on stage with it (I like jumping around and goofing off so i fell* and it did nothing to it! i was so relived! It of course has belt scratches on the back but you can never get away from belt scratches lol. The case i have for it is to big so the neck moves it outta place every time *which i hate so i put shirts around it to keep it from doing that* but it never broke woohoo! and the 9 volt last forever! Anyways..... This is a awesome starter bass and a awesome main bass!!! You cant go wrong with it! Especially for the price!
Pickup knob, Treble-boost/cut knob, Bass-boost/cut knob, Finger or Slap feature Knob, Master Volume Knob.
Smooth, Strong, Beautiful.
cant beat the price!

It's a Bass Player Thang

By Patsy Jansen-Taoyama

from CA

Comments about Ibanez SR305 5-String Bass Guitar:

Have to say I am very impressed with this bass. I bought the Ibanez SR 305. I've been looking for a 5-string for years and nothing stood out, they all felt a little awkward to play (I have small hands). This bass looks great, sounds great, and is a joy to play. It is light, and well proportioned and scaled. You get a incredible bass for the price. It's simple, yet handsome design helps keep the price down. With a little eye candy this bass could cost a lot more.

Not that happy with customer service

By Robert Mackie

from Mission Viejo, Ca

Comments about Ibanez SR305 5-String Bass Guitar:

This is a great base. It sounds great it feels great and looks great. My problem is with customer service. I went to the store to buy this base, the one they had had a short in it so I ordered one on line at the store. Not to big of a deal. When the base came it was in the box and looked great. I went to tune the base and one of the strings broke after turning the key a half turn. I went back to the store to see if they'd stand behind it they said that I had to buy new strings. I seems to me that of you buy something from a store one line or in the store they should stand behind it if it has a problem right out of the box. I'm sure that if the string broke I the shop right out of the box they would have replaced it and not tol me to bad you have to buy new strings.
