As stated this is my first bass guitar, I started playing bass a few months ago and I've been playing on a different model ibanez. I will also note that I have been playing on a right handed one at that upside down. I really liked the sound of the ibanez. When I got to guitar center I played on a few different basses and as I was putting one back the SR300 caught my eye, with its midnight black sparkle paint job, and its gunmetal/pewter hardware, to its smooth black CAP pickups. I held it and was in love, it was just so gorgeous looking, and then I was assisted and got to plug in to the largest bass amp available in the store. It was at that moment I knew I was going home with that instrument. I play hard rock, blues, metal, and some light rock/jazzy sounding stuff, and this guitar is able to deliver on all spectrums with its 4 tonal tuners that you are able to get really nice blends. The Neck is solid and is comprised of 5 pieces of wood, looking at the back looks like candy. This is my first bass as I said and I am so happy I spent a little more to go for this one, its light enough that it doesn't fatigue your shoulder with a strap and its heavy enough that it still feels like you have a sturdy well constructed instrument. Looks alone, I give it 5 stars, sound I give 5 stars just based on the amount of musical range you achieve with this bass, and feel I give 5 stars, great price for the craftsmanship.
I received this bass in and it has lived up to the hype in its ad. The neck feels right, my hand doesn't tire or cramp up with it. The pick ups are crisp, the EQ allows me to adjust the sound to get the perfect metal gallop like Maiden without the knock. I can adjust it out for a deep funk or Jazz and did I mention it is just beautiful. I'd recommend it to any left hander.
