I simply cannot figure out how Ibanez puts out a bass of this quality for such a low price. A little fiddling right out of the box got the action low and smooth. The shape of the neck makes playing effortless. The 3 band onboard eq dials in almost any sound you need without having to go back and fiddle with the amp. The Roadster Orange finish is so much better in person than in the photos, the active pickups sound wonderful, and, a boon to all us gigging musicians, it's light. I started playing bass in High School. I'm 51 now, and have owned almost every type of bass at one point or another. P bass, couple of Jazz Basses, Yamahas, Peaveys, A Gibson, couple other Ibanez's, and this is the one I'm sticking with. For years the Jazz Bass was my main stage axe, and I used to carry a phony Hofner as a backup. I'd usually pick it up somewhere in the second set to give my shoulder a break. I am seriously considering buying another one of these for my backup and leaving everything else at home. For us working class players who simply can't afford a Ric 4003 or the Alembic of their dreams, this bass will fill the bill. At this price, you simply can't go wrong.

This bass is nice to play and looks great. I only had the bass for a couple days and the action does not stay put. The action drops and needs to be adjusted daily. I don't need a bass that needs constant adjusting. I read that dropping action can be an issue with the SR300 because of the low quality bridge. Some folks fix it by putting clear fingernail polish on the bridge screws to keep them from dropping or they buy a new bridge. I'm a big Ibanez fan and have had my '83 Roadster since I bought it new. It's a fantatic bass. I wanted something lighter and the SR300 felt great and sounded great in the store. I'm sad to take this bass back, but will keep looking.

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

great bass, i got it for christmas, i got it in the orange, the sound is great, the punch is clean, and the finger snap knob is usefull. its very light in thin. not much to adjust after pulling out of the box, though after having it for a few months, my bridge never stays, goes out every week and have to raise it, maybe i just got a bad one, overall awsome on the money and the is amazing.

quite fantastic

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

I've been playing bass for little over 6 months. this bass was the first i ever owned and i must say that its fantastic. ive played it in all three shows that my band has put on and it works everywhere. it has a good low range, mid and high. i can go from rock to funk without more than a little knob twist. i bought it at my local music store and i could not be happier with it. plus the roadster orange metallic is amazing. the 24 fretts give this bass a massive range.

Great Bass, Great Price

By Jim

from East Hampton, CT

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

I've been a drummer for 10 years and I picked up bass last year and figured it was time to upgrade from my started kit.I love this bass, its so light and easy on the back, the Starlight Blue finish is awesome, it has a built in 3-band EQ (and the style sweeper is really handy too) which gives a lot of tone options right on the bass itself. I went with Ibanez because of the thin necks, fast and easy play. The action is also really nice on this, its low without causing fret buzz. I ordered mine online and just had to adjust the neck a little, but otherwise it was set up good from the factory. Also, the active pickups give it a really nice resonating tone. I play with my church's worship band, and we have a lot of songs that require a lot of low end sustain, as well as filling mid-range and this bass provides that. At the same time you can jump into some slap bass and it sounds just as great. The one downside to it, which hasn't been a problem yet but I can see being a problem at some point, is that the bass and treble EQ pots are stacked on top of each other, and it seems like the treble pot could get smacked by something (since its raised up high) and get knocked off. Just means I'll have to be careful with it. Overall, a really nice base, for an incredible price.

A Bass for anyone

By Sparky Heretic

from Hobbs. NM

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

I have played many, many basses over the years. Fender, Washburn, Ibanez BC Rich and even Traben. This bass and this series is the best, hands down. You can't find a better bass for a better price no matter the style you play. The weight for a bass guitar is unbelievable, and the variable sounds you can get from the active pickups is certain to please anyone's ear. So go to a Guitar Center, play it, love it, and then get this bass.

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

I picked this bass up 3 months ago. It is my fourth bass I've owned. It ROCKS!! I love the look, and the sound. You won't believe the the neck. It is so slim and quick, it feel like you are cheating. One of my other basses is another Ibenez. They rock.. Keep up the good work.

Best bang for your buck

By Flea wannabee

from Shelton, CT

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

I went to my local GC looking for a new bass, while still trying to keep it cheap. The one i had in mind looked great, but sounded terrible. The frets buzzed too much and the entire bass sounded shaky. I tried out at least 7 others, then this beauty caught my eye and i never looked back. There are no problems with this bass at all. The pickups are powerful and versatile. The 3 band EQ is a great feature as well. I recommend this bass to ANYONE who is looking for a great bass for a cheap price.

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

This bass is almost perfect. It's simple enough for a beginer, Yet snappy enough for an experienced player. I've been playing bass for 3 years and this is the second Ibanez i've owned. And all I can say is this is a great bass! I highly recommend it.

More than the price suggests

By Dillon

from DFW, TX

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

This bass is great for beginners stepping into that early/intermediate range of instrument. I've owned for roughly six months. I originally purchased for use with my university Jazz Ensemble, and in that setting it has performed well for its price. My only real complaint is a bit of persistent intonation issues, which could be just me, and the EQ has no mid contour. Great for heavier rock riffs, or for popping/slapping for funkie jazz charts. Does NOT play blues very well.

Problem with pickup/construction

By RS

from MD

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

I purchased this about a month back for my son, who is taking bass lessons. The instructor was the one that pointed out the dull low volume sound quality of the E string. I tried playing on a few amps and the same problem was there. Took it back to GC and played another SR300 and it had the same problem too! Exchanged it for a Squire @ same price, which sounds perfect.

Great bass for the price

By Andrew

from Virginia

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

I'm not going to say this is the greatest bass in the world. It does have some flaws. But for the price this is an amazing product. The pickups work fine, the 24 frets give you a great range to work with, and the tonal options rival those of much more expensive basses. The active EQ is really great for a bass like this. If you want a good bass but don't want to spend too much, this is the bass for you.

Great Bass for the Money

By Glenn

from Arlington, VA

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

I have played several basses over the years. With this bass you really get your bang for the buck; the action is good, the sound is clear and not muddy, and I can get a lot of different tones out of it. The bridge also makes the action very easy to reset.

It Sparkles!

By Karl

from East Brunswick, NJ

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

I played it for less than a minute before ordering it in the green. It is nice and light, sounds great, and the controls are very effective in molding the sound. I am still tinkering around with it but now that I got the strings low and quick, it plays like a champ. The green sparkle really pops and I get a lot of compliments on the bass. Definently worth it for the price.

Good Bass for Starting in Active Pickups

By Eddie Taylor

from culpeper, VA

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

This was my second bass, after a Yamaha. I was shopping around for something with active pickups, and this kept coming up as the best option for my money. So far, I have enjoyed playing it, and it does an acceptable job for the praise & worship bands I play in. I have only had a couple real issues with the bass. First, if the battery gets below about half strength, the volume is really finicky and will swell and drop at random until you replace the battery. This can be annoying if it comes up in the middle of a service. Second, while the bass sounds great, the hardware tends to be a little flimsy. The volume and Pickup knobs fell off after about a year of use, and even gluing them back on with cyanoacrylate glue only fixes the problem for a couple of weeks. Also, there is a short in the treble EQ somewhere that developed after about a year, and adjusting the treble anywhere besides in the middle will cause the volume to change dramatically at random and make horrible crackling noises the entire time. So, great for starting out, but I don't recommend this for playing shows or recording.

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

I was looking for something to use as a beater, but after playing this bass in the store, I was absolutely amazed at how well is is made, plays, and sounds for the money! And the active controls really work! If your looking for a good bass without spending a large chunk of change, this is the one to buy.

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

I have been the pround owner of this bass for a very short time, and if you're the person that is looking for a deciently priced bass that has a narrow fretboard, comfortable pickups, and great sound then I highly recommend this bass. Dont let the picture fool you, it looks great in person.

This bass is awesome

By Gilberto Corona

from Needville, Texas

Comments about Ibanez SR300 Bass Guitar:

This is just one of the coolest bass I've ever played. It has a neck that allows fast and comfy playing. The great combinations of sound you can make with all the controls it has has me stuck to this bass 24/7. If you are thinking about buying it, then that would be the best choice because I'm sure you would enjoy it just as much as I do. I LOVE THIS BASS!!
