Part of the SR Premium line and manufactured in the Ibanez Premium factory, the SR Premium 1205E 5-string electric bass is designed with high-end features while maintaining affordability, making it the new standard for the serious, professional musician.
The SR Premium 1205E boasts a smoothly contoured ovangkol top on a large mahogany body for gorgeous looks and powerful, aggressive tone. Its five-piece SR5 wenge/bubinga neck is also bolstered with KTS titanium reinforcement rods inside, and finished with a rosewood fretboard. The Mono-Rail bridge is the ultimate in string isolation for bass. Each saddle is independently and securely locked down to the body for maximum vibration transfer and no interference. One screw controls the height of each saddle for easy adjustment.
Nordstrand Big Single pickups provide the clear sound characteristic of single-coil pickups with an aggressive edge. The EQB-IIISC 3-band EQ with mid-frequency and EQ-bypass switches gives you a world of tonal possibilities, making the SR Premium 1205E as versatile as it is good-looking.
Includes gig bag.

I didn't need a new bass, but this bass is WAY too beautiful to leave in the store. I'm a sucker for a beautiful face, but this bass is much more than just beautiful. First, it's light. With a 3" wide cow hide strap and Dunlop strap locks, it weights 8.5 pounds. Second, the neck is WONDERFUL. It's comfortable, fast, easy to play, and the action can be set pretty low without buzzes if you don't play too hard. Neck shape and action are subjective attributes, but for me, they are perfect. For another player, they may be all wrong. Third, the tone is great and the tone controls provide great variability in the tone. My only complaint is that the bridges on the B and E strings are installed a little too far back towards the end pin). I put on a set of DR Low Riders (45-125), which are the Ibanez recommended gages for this bass, and adjusted the intonation. The saddles on the B ad E strings are as far forward as they'll go. The intonation on the E string is perfect, but the bridge saddle on the B string needs to go a little farther forward to be perfect, although it's almost there. The real problem is, the adjusting screw for both the B and E bridge saddles fell out. They just didn't have any tension on them and they vibrated loose and fell out. HOWEVER, compared to all the wonderful things about this bass, this complaint is being nit-picky. THIS BASS IS GREAT.
I picked this up less than a year ago because I wanted something light, affordable, well built and sounded as close to a Jazz Bass since that's the sound I love. This is like a Jazz on steroids. I've never cared for Ibanez and I really don't care for their other basses because the B string to me has no thump. This one is completely different. The Nordstrands kill! Mine only weighs 7 pounds too. Real light. My Jazz is 10. So, on the long gig nights this is great. The finish is nice, you don't need to wipe it all the time because there is no gloss. You won't be dissapointed.
I bought this for my husband as a suprise and he absolutely LOVES it!!! He was going from a 4-string to this 5-string and he doesn't want to stop playing. He loves how easy it is for him to softly touch the strings and it sounds so smooth and powerful.
This bass is beautiful, inside and out. The moment I opened the box and unwrapped this baby, I was in love. The natural woods are gorgeous. Many people have come up to me after a gig and commented on how beautiful it looks. They always want to touch it. Looks aside though, this bass is wonderful to play. Itۡs well balanced and isnۡt heavy at all. The thin fingerboard and 305mm radius fit my hand perfectly. I was amazed at how easily my fingering adapted and my playing improved over my old Fender Jazz Bass. The sound of this bass matches its beauty. It has a full, rich sound. It is exactly the sound I was looking for. Best of all, the tone and balance controls help contour the sound any way I want. The cut-out switch is a nice feature too when I want to quickly flatten out the tone curve. If you are hesitant to order a bass on-line without having taken it for a ride, donۡt worry. I was reluctant at first too and read many reviews before I ordered it. You wonۡt be disappointed.
Even though this is a reasonably priced premium bass, it is still a pretty hefty purchase for me, thus I was hesitant about ordering a BASS on line. my first Bass was an Ibanez, 200, and I like the neck on the Ibanez guitars. THIS BASS DOES NOT DISSAPPOINT! when I unboxed it and picked it up for the first time, I was hooked. It is BEAUTIFUL, natural finish woods, the ovangkol top on the mahogany, gives just enough heft for the big sound I wanted, without excess weight. this is about the same weight as my '82 issue '57 P-Bass with an extra string! I've played it for a couple services now, and as much as I hate to say it, I believe my wonderful classic P-Bass is going to become a wall hanger... the Norstrand pickups deliver as promised, big beautiful tone! The Ibanez neck is just fabulous, I love the thin neck, unlike every other 5 string I picked up. Everything else felt like I was trying to play the fat end of a Major League baseball bat... YUK.. this thing is balanced well, and is put together well... SO HAPPY that Ibanez came out with this series!
