The Ibanez S970w Electric Guitar is a striking shredder with a smart combination of tonewoods, shape and hardware. The comfortably contoured African mahogany body with claro walnut top is perfectly joined to a 5-piece maple and mahogany neck. The neck features the Wizard Premium design that has the same construction and thickness as the Wizard Prestige and is balanced for both comfort and speed. CAP pickups in an HSH configuration provide a vast variety of tones. The S970W also features the Ibanez Zero Resistance and Zero Point System 3 tremolo system that permits extreme dive-bombing while returning all the strings back in tune, even if one breaks en route. A locking nut and cosmo black hardware complete this guitar's collection of features.

I saw this guitar and its big brother the S5470 TBK right next to it. I was a bit tight on money and I loved playing the Prestige very very much. So I compared the two guitars to see if the Premium is worth not having to spend more to best S series guitar in its range. In terms of playability and feel, the necks feel extremely similar. They're both comfortable, fast, and durable. The Premium does get a slightly different tone with its walnut top/mahogany body combination compared to the Prestige's all mahogany body. Same goes for the pickups since both sets are different as well. Tonally they're both amazing- can't go wrong with one or the other. Since both guitars use the same tremolo, I had no tuning issues. In conclusion, the S970W is a wonderful alternative to the S5470. Only difference in both guitars is you'll get more money back if you were to sell the Prestige (Which would be a dumb move to make)
I've been in love with the S-Series every since I first played one. My previous guitar was an S770BP. The thin body and neck are great for speed and comfort. I play mostly smooth jazz, funk, and rhythm. I really should have a hollow-body electric for the kind of music I play but those things are too bulky and I've never really liked the look. Enter the S970Wm which sounds great clean, funky, or for leads. You shredders will not be able to put it down! The rounded frets are easy on my fingers. You play this thing once and you definitely know you've upgraded. The pretty finish gets attention, but the offset dot inlays are admittedly lack-luster for a guitar that is supposed to be an alternative to the high-end Prestige line. Get one! You will not be disappointed.
