The cutting-edge of Ibanez design, the S series continues to be a marvel of form and function. Its signature body shape - sculpted, lightweight, and mahogany - is stronger and more musically responsive than guitars weighing twice as much. The S series is still a rock 'n' roll version of a quick, graceful, and potentially lethal weapon.
This S8 model has a mahogany body and a Wizard II-8 neck that offers maximum comfort and speed. Its fingerboard is rosewood with 24 jumbo frets for effortless note bends. It also comes with dual Ibanez IBZ-8 pickups that are wired to a 5-way switch for a variety of coil combinations and sounds. A Gilbralter standard-8 bridge and black hardware complete the list of hard-rockin' appointments.
5-piece Maple/Walnut Neck
Fast, flat and slim 5-piece Maple/Walnut neck, with KTS Titanium Reinforcement rods within.
Gibraltar Standard-8 bridge
The Gibraltar Standard is a simple fixed bridge that was designed to adhere firmly to the guitar body and make good transfer of the string vibrations. It is also incredibly smooth for maximum playing comfort.

Comments about Ibanez S8 Series 8-String Electric Guitar:
This is the first 8 string I did not feel totally uncomfortable on. The neck of course is very wide because of the 8 strings, but it is thin. the neck construction feels very strong and nice. The guitar body is the S style which means it is super thin. The neck is so big you barely feel the guitars body at all. It is manageable. This is a great place to start for an 8 string I think. The pick ups are slightly less high output which is what you needed for playing those super low notes. When you get lots of output and gain on the low F# string and others everything starts to sound muddy, so the pickups being less "hot" is a good thing. If I were to buy an 8 string guitar I would only buy an Ibanez. They seem to know their stuff when it comes to the 8 strings and I trust their neck design. This guitar is fun sounding and playing. Looks cool too.
