Excellent choice!

By PapaRica77

Comments about Ibanez S7420 7-String Electric Guitar:

What a great choice! I love this tremolo. I already have another S-series Ibanez electric guitar and it's a monster sound. The neck is sweet and the body is thin as I expected. I bought this one used and it's got nothing to envy any other overpriced guitar. I mean, the sound of that low B is amazing. I was completely blown away with this guitar.

Prestige Quality for standard price

By BLCKBRDLS1

from NJ

Comments about Ibanez S7420 7-String Electric Guitar:

As stated you can own a prestige level Ibanez for a low cost and with a pickup swap you can have one mean guitar. This guitar will not dissapoint.
Im a major Ibanez enthusiast and I was looking for a 7 string guitar to add to my collection and I picked this bad boy up and it was the best decision Ive ever made. Everything on this guitar screams prestige except for the pickups. The bridge has amazing sustain and the neck is one of the best Ive ever played. Im swapping out the pickups for some Dimarzios but even with the added cost of the new pickups you cant beat how great this guitar is. The neck is so slim and smooth that your hands will get used to playing the extended scale in an hour. Everyone Ive let play this guitar love it.
As stated all the parts on this guitar are high end minus the stock Ibanez pickups. Pop some high end pickups in this bad boy and you have a nasty guitar.
Cant beat the price for such a great instrument.

s7420!

Comments about Ibanez S7420 7-String Electric Guitar:

The s7420 is my favorite guitar that i own. The paint looks different in person, its more of a glossy paint. The axis seven ceramic humbuckers sound fantastic for metal and you can even get a nice jazz tone out of the neck pickup. this guitar may not be titled a prestige but it deinately has the same quality as a prestige! get one!

V.Good choice!!

By MarcosTheGreat

Comments about Ibanez S7420 7-String Electric Guitar:

I've been playing this guitar for about 6 months. It took me just a few minutes to adjust the tuning and start playing. It played amazingly well. Absolutely no adjustments needed. The ZR tremolo system is very futuristic and never goes out of tune, changing strings is a piece of cake. Although the look is not the best but this is almost the only minor drawback. Apart from that, the guitar is a must have for anyone looking for a serious 7-string. The quality-price ratio is good.

S7420 Rules

By gandia77

from Bartow, FL

Comments about Ibanez S7420 7-String Electric Guitar:

This guitar is awesome in my humble opinion. Right out of the box it played like a dream. I fell in love with the neck immediately. I own a schecter Hellraiser as well and though it too is a nice guitar the S7420 plays way better in my opinion. The tremolo stays in tune perfectly. I put it to the test and no matter how crazy I got with it it always stayed in tune. The pick ups sound better to me than the Hellraiser too. My only complaint which has nothing to do with the guitar, is that I wish it came with a case. I think it's ridiculous that some guitars don't come with cases these days. Other than that you'll definately love playing this beast. 2 thumbs up!!

Brutal and Killer!!!!!

By Sign Me IBANEZ!!!

from Independence, MO

Comments about Ibanez S7420 7-String Electric Guitar:

This is my first 7 string but my 5th ibanez so I knew what to expect when purchasing. This guitar is insane! the body is so killer and makes the guitar super light. The stock pick ups are pretty good, but I might get some dimarzios to put in it cause ibanez and dimarzio go hand in hand in my opinion. Also the ZR trem is awsome cause you can tune every which way and it stays in place. The Wizard to is (in my opinion) the best neck on the market and suites this guitar well. My only complaints are that the volume nob is too close to the pick up selector and makes it hard to do quick mute. other than that this guitar is an amazing 7 string. Ibanez's played: ART300, AEG10Classical, XPT700, RG350MDX, S7420

Beast

By Lordkatulsa

from Arkansas

Comments about Ibanez S7420 7-String Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for about a year. the tone is amazing. It is very easy to tune for a guitar that has a floyd style tremolo on it. it has a knowb in the back so you don't have to adjust the spring tension with a screwdriver. I play death metal with this beast and have nothing but the perfect tone and playability.

great neck, okay quality overall

By Adam

from Madison, WI

Comments about Ibanez S7420 7-String Electric Guitar:

I received this guitar a couple weeks ago and have been playing it quite a bit. This is my first 7-string, so I can't comment on how it compares to other 7-string guitars. But, it's a typical Ibanez. I love the new LOW notes, and the extra tonality further up the neck with the low-B string. I have an S series Ibanez (6-string) that I bought in the early '90s that still plays perfectly. So, I'm hoping this one ages as well. This new one is made in Indonesia (as opposed to Japan like the earlier models), and you can tell immediately the quality is not quite as high as it used to be. Not sure I can pinpoint it to one specific thing, it's more like a lot of little things. The stock pickups aren't quite as nice as they used to be (IMHO), the tone and volume pots and the 5-way switch seem cheaper, and the "Wizard" neck isn't nearly as thin. Also, I immediately took off the extra springs for the "Zero Resistance" trem. I just like the feel of a floating tremolo much better. And I HATE the screw-on trem bar. What a horrible design. I can't believe it has lasted this long. But, this thing does have a lot more sustain than my old guitar, which I attribute to the new tremolo design. Overall, it's a sweet guitar. Maybe overpriced (they should throw in a case and/or extended warranty), but seems to be pretty much what I was expecting. It might seem like I pointed out a lot of negative aspects, but if you like Ibanez guitars, then you know what you're getting anyways. I just wanted to put the info out there.
