Overview

Ibanez contours the body of the S7420 7-string electric guitar to shave weight where it isn't needed while retaining mahogany's awesome sustain. This shaping also results in a very comfortable profile that you'll appreciate on those long sets.

A pair of Axis Seven ceramic humbuckers have the output to deliver the deep-throated tones of drop-tuned rock. You'll whammy fearlessly with the Zero Resistance trem bridge that has ball bearing action for wicked-smooth and stable action. The 3-piece maple Wizard II bolt-on neck is topped by a rosewood fingerboard with solo-friendly jumbo frets and pearl dots.

Case sold separately.

Brutal and Killer!!!!!

Comments about Ibanez S7420 7-String Electric Guitar:

This is my first 7 string but my 5th ibanez so I knew what to expect when purchasing. This guitar is insane! the body is so killer and makes the guitar super light. The stock pick ups are pretty good, but I might get some dimarzios to put in it cause ibanez and dimarzio go hand in hand in my opinion. Also the ZR trem is awsome cause you can tune every which way and it stays in place. The Wizard to is (in my opinion) the best neck on the market and suites this guitar well. My only complaints are that the volume nob is too close to the pick up selector and makes it hard to do quick mute. other than that this guitar is an amazing 7 string. Ibanez's played: ART300, AEG10Classical, XPT700, RG350MDX, S7420

great neck, okay quality overall

Comments about Ibanez S7420 7-String Electric Guitar:

I received this guitar a couple weeks ago and have been playing it quite a bit. This is my first 7-string, so I can't comment on how it compares to other 7-string guitars. But, it's a typical Ibanez. I love the new LOW notes, and the extra tonality further up the neck with the low-B string. I have an S series Ibanez (6-string) that I bought in the early '90s that still plays perfectly. So, I'm hoping this one ages as well. This new one is made in Indonesia (as opposed to Japan like the earlier models), and you can tell immediately the quality is not quite as high as it used to be. Not sure I can pinpoint it to one specific thing, it's more like a lot of little things. The stock pickups aren't quite as nice as they used to be (IMHO), the tone and volume pots and the 5-way switch seem cheaper, and the "Wizard" neck isn't nearly as thin. Also, I immediately took off the extra springs for the "Zero Resistance" trem. I just like the feel of a floating tremolo much better. And I HATE the screw-on trem bar. What a horrible design. I can't believe it has lasted this long. But, this thing does have a lot more sustain than my old guitar, which I attribute to the new tremolo design. Overall, it's a sweet guitar. Maybe overpriced (they should throw in a case and/or extended warranty), but seems to be pretty much what I was expecting. It might seem like I pointed out a lot of negative aspects, but if you like Ibanez guitars, then you know what you're getting anyways. I just wanted to put the info out there.
