OK, I'm not some guy hired to write a review or something, I'm a regular guy (with super-human guitar skills, kidding... sort of :p) and just about NEVER, I mean NEVER write reviews for anything. So, when I got my s470 tonight via UPS, set er up, plugged er in, stock pickups and all, I was absolutely floored by the sound this axe emits. Blow clear outta my shoes... though I didn;t have any on. I've owned Les Pauls, SGs, Fender Buddy Guy Issue Guitar and most recent, my beloved es-339. I would now like to PROUDLY announce to all the world, or nyone reading this on the GC website or musiciansfriend or whereever that this is ONE guitar to RULE them all. Versatile, tone-filled monster, responsive, like butter in your hands.... again, I'm absolutely blown away. I'm playing through a modded Fender Deluxe Rever Reissue, using tube screamers, some boss delay pedals, the Whammy 2, an on-board eq which the 470 is remarkably responsive to, unlike the other guitars and a couple other effects, boss reverb, pitch shifter and an envelope filter. This guitar makes each of these effects come to like unlike and of the others. It's like putty in my hands and I can't get enough of it... I have to practically make myself stop playing. It is really that solid.......... at least for me. You may not be in the market for something like this, depending on what kind of sound you're looking for, but if you're looking for somethingincredibly versitile, able to move from jazz to rock to fusion etc... This is a fantastic instrument to consider. I play most fusion and jam back type music, and yes, I'm using an Ibanez, this axe delivers in spades]]. Happy jamming.
i have been playing for about 8 years now, and i have played strats, les pauls, and many other guitars, and this is BY FAR the best guitar i have played. the ZR bridge is perfection. i can use that thing all day long for a week, and it will still be in tune. the HSH pickup configuration is really nice too, because you get the best of a strat and a les paul. the neck is as smooth as butter. it is the fastest and the easiest neck i have ever played. also the thin edges of this guitar reduce the wight, but don't affect the sustain too much. the "Mahogany Oil" finish is so sexy, and fairly unique which is cool. i have been playing it through a Jet City JCA5212RC and a Wampler pinnacle, and i have gotten a pretty mean Brown Sound, among other great sound from this guitar. the S470 is super responsive and dynamic, at least through this set up, but i would put down money that it would be responsive through almost any set up. i have also done some jazz and blues, and this guitar delivers. its such a versatile guitar. i would recommend this guitar to anyone for anything. IT'S. JUST. AWESOME.
