Overview

Cloaked in a quilted maple top with beautiful transparent finish, a bound rosewood fretboard features jumbo frets. Lurking beneath the S Series’ graceful 3-D shape is mahogany specifically chosen for S Series instruments. Light enough amaze in terms of comfort, heavy enough to provide the tone and sustain that players expect from the S Series.

As the originators of the thin, fast neck, the Wizard III neck is yet another achievement in playability, providing the kind of comfort that translates to responsiveness and speed. Proprietary Quantum pickups round out this metal mammoth with an entire palette of thick, distorted tone textures that retain high-end articulation. A simple, yet solid fixed bridge provides stable, dependable tuning and accurate intonation. Case sold separately.

Comments about Ibanez S Series S621QM Electric Guitar:

After some new strings and setting up, this is my favorite guitar. It's super light, comfortable and easy to play for my average size hands. I would have switched out the pups but they sound great with the DR strings and running through one of my amps. It's got a very raw yet articulate sound when not too saturated. I get decent sustain and some really cool tones both from clean and crunch. I paid the extra $100 for this dragon eye, but it's still worth it. I've had plenty of mid range guitars; BC Rich, Schecter, Jackson, epiphone, Gibson, and I already have a JS Ibanez, but the value for money is what gives this guitar 5 stars. It stays in tune pretty well and when set up, every note has been in tune up and down the neck. All I did was set the action a bit and put new strings on. Maybe I got lucky. But I want to play it all the time and I want another one with a Floyd now. It's the lightest and most fun guitar I've ever played.

Comments about Ibanez S Series S621QM Electric Guitar:

I stopped by at my local GC expecting to buy a PRS CE 24 (a MUCH more expensive guitar). I was looking for something well-made, comfortable, 24 frets, and fairly versatile. I played the PRS, but I wasn't pleased with it (The neck was bigger than what I was used to). I spent the next three hours playing these guitars below:

      PRS CE 24
      PRS SE Mark Holcomb
      Ibanez RG Premium
      Fender Am. Strat
      Music Man
      Ibanez S Iron Label
another Ibanez S (unsure of exact model, it was used)
      Gibson Les Paul Std.
      and several others....

I found the Ibanez S series, in general, to be the most comfortable guitars out of all of the guitars listed above. The fret work is pretty good, it is very lightweight, and I found the neck to be very easy to play. Another thing I like about the S series is that the cutaways are far enough for the 24th fret to be easily reachable and playable.

One reason why I chose this model over the Iron Label is the tone knob and control layout. The Iron Label is also a very nice instrument, and I would have bought it over this one if it had a tone knob and better control layout. I play a lot of metal, and the Iron Label had better pickups for that style of music.

This guitar has decent pickups out of the box. If you are playing jazz, blues, or rock, those pickups sound pretty good for those styles. I found that the pickups get a little muddy at really high gain. I will likely switch them out for Dimarzios.

Overall, I really recommend this guitar and the S series in general. They seem to be very well-made, quality instruments.
